See Every Photo We Took of the New 2027 Subaru Getaway’s Interior
What Shoppers Need to Know
- The 2027 Subaru Getaway is an all-new electric SUV.
- Three rows of seats for up to seven occupants
- Available luxuries include heated seats in all three rows and ventilation in the first and second rows.
The Subaru/Toyota electric-vehicle collaborations keep coming. The latest is the 2027 Subaru Getaway, the automaker’s take on the recently revamped Toyota Highlander. This electric SUV boasts standard all-wheel drive, 420 horsepower — 82 hp more than the Toyota’s optional AWD setup generates — and three rows of seats for up to seven occupants. We recently got a chance to crawl inside this new family-friendly EV; check out our gallery of the 2027 Subaru Getaway’s interior below.
The Getaway is the most powerful vehicle Subaru has ever sold in the U.S., as well as the largest. It’s 2 inches longer than the gas-powered Ascent. Subaru hasn’t released interior dimensions yet, but we know from clambering around the identical Highlander that there are gobs of room in the first and second rows, and even the third is plenty spacious for 5-foot-11-inch West Coast Bureau Chief Conner Golden. The second-row seats power forward quickly to allow access to the wayback.
While Subaru is keeping interior measurements secret for a while longer, we do know the Getaway’s cargo volume. The automaker says there are 15.9 cubic feet behind the third row and 45.6 with it folded; that’s slightly less than the Ascent can accommodate with the backseat occupied and slightly more than it can hold with it folded: 17.8 and 43.5 cubic feet, respectively.
Perhaps more important is how the Getaway compares to other electric three-row SUVs. For model-year 2026, the Hyundai Ioniq 9’s hold measures 21.9 cubic feet with the third row up and 46.7 cubic feet with it down, while the Kia EV9 measures 20.2 cubic feet behind the third row and 43.5 behind the second. (Note that these are all manufacturer measurements, which may not be strictly comparable.)
Quality
Full details on the Getaway’s three trim levels (Premium, Limited and Touring) will be announced closer to the start of sales in late 2026. But from what we know now, Subaru’s newest electric SUV is shaping up to be a rather luxurious family EV. Heated front seats will be standard, while heated second- and third-row seats will be available, as will ventilated first- and second-row seats. Other optional equipment will include a huge panoramic moonroof and Nappa leather upholstery.
