Hyundai revealed the Boulder Concept at the 2026 New York International Auto Show, a rugged off-road SUV that previews a new body-on-frame platform, which will be the starting point for a new Hyundai mid-size truck in 2030.  Hyundai teased the announcement with a cryptic teaser leading up to the show.

A body-on-platform allows for more robust off-road and towing capabilities, and is something Hyundai currently doesn’t have in its lineup but is a staple of every major pickup truck, including the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, as well as the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler.

Here are six things to know about the Hyundai Boulder concept:

  • Off-road-focused SUV concept
  • 37-inch tires
  • Tailgate-mounted spare tire
  • Retractable liftgate window
  • Configurable interior
  • Planned to be built in the U.S.

The Boulder is just a design study at this point, with no plans for production. Check it out in the video below.
