Nissan Reveals 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid
What Car Shoppers Should Know
- Nissan showed off a new 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid at a global event, though there are still many unannounced details.
- The Rogue Hybrid will use two electric motors to move the wheels, with the gas engine serving as a generator to recharge the battery providing energy to the motors.
Nissan today held a global event showcasing the automaker’s vision that also debuted the 2027 Rogue compact SUV and its hybrid powertrain.

While the Rogue has had a hybrid powertrain in past generations, the current Rogue makes do with a sole engine: a gas-only turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder. The fairly efficient and otherwise inoffensive three-cylinder has been subject to recent recalls and several popular competitors offer better gas mileage via hybrids, but it didn’t hold the Rogue back from a victory in our 2025 compact SUV comparison.
What to Expect
First, the 2027 Rogue Hybrid will use Nissan’s e-Power series hybrid technology: Two electric motors will provide power to move the wheels, with the gas engine under the hood serving exclusively as a generator to recharge the battery providing energy to the electric motors. The new Rogue will mark the first application of the technology in U.S. Nissans, though it has been available in other markets around the world.
Second, the new Rogue looks like an evolution of the current generation rather than a radical reimagining. The biggest change appears to be updated front-end styling that looks similar to what we’ve seen on the current Murano, Kicks and Leaf, with a wide, almost Cheshire-cat-grin grille flanked by angled headlights. The rear styling updates are more subdued, with the C-pillar design having a bit more in common with the current-generation Rogue Plug-in Hybrid (and related Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV).
