Great MPG

Bought the car to commute between Carmel, CA and the SF Bay Area. Cars does everything asked of it. Put it in 'auto pilot' and let her go. Average between 45 - 49 MPG, depending on a heavy foot and weather. Once got caught in a bit of traffic and went a constant 35 MPH for 60 miles on 1 gallon of gas - unbelievable. Seems to be hard on tires - need new ones just over 36k miles.

Why Not?

30K and going strong. You won't be disappointed with this car, unless you are trying to pull a boat or win the race. Absolutely 50 MPG average whether in the mountains or the flatland of the coast.

Toyota Prius - 600 mi. on one tank ($30 to fill)

It's all about the great mileage with Prius. You give up the V6 acceleration, but you get a mid-sized car that goes forever. You also RELEARN to drive with this car because of the mileage useage display console. It shows you exactly what MPG you're getting as you press the accelerator and teaches you how to get the most out of a tank of gas. It's even taught me how to drive my other V6 more efficiently. Personal experience: My wife and I average about 45 MPG in the winter and about 55 MPG in the summer. You don't have to drive 45 miles an hour to get it either - we are on the expressway all week, stop-and-go up to 75 MPH. Even at 75 we get around 50 MPG.
