Affected vehicles include model-year 2025-26 Jettas. The transmission ground wire may have not been connected during production, meaning there could be an open electrical circuit. An open circuit may draw a higher current, increasing the risk of a fire.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and repair the transmission ground wire, as necessary, for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 8, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 800-893-5298 (VW’s number for this recall is 97TC), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
