If you’re considering an electric vehicle, there are a significant number of all-new and updated models for the 2026 and 2027 model years that you may want to add to your shopping list. And if you’re heading to the 2026 Chicago Auto Show, you can see many of them under one roof, which is a lot better than trekking between car-dealership showrooms.

2027 BMW iX3
- What it is: The all-new BMW iX3 is roughly the size of the automaker’s X3 luxury compact SUV, but it features an electric powertrain that makes 463 horsepower.
- What’s interesting about it: A panoramic display along the base of the windshield shows driver-selectable widgets for things like navigation, music and weather.
- Range and charging: BMW-estimated range is 400 miles, with DC fast charging from 10%-80% in as little as 21 minutes.
- On-sale date: Summer 2026
2026 Cadillac Vistiq
- What it is: The all-new Vistiq is a three-row luxury SUV that offers more manageable dimensions and a more affordable starting price than the brand’s flagship electric SUV, the Escalade IQ.
- What’s interesting about it: Available rear-wheel steering enhances maneuverability and can tighten the SUV’s turning circle.
- Range and charging: EPA-estimated range is 305 miles, and Cadillac says the Vistiq can add up to 80 miles of range in about 10 minutes at a DC fast charger.
- On-sale date: Available now
2027 Chevrolet Bolt
- What it is: After sitting out a few model years, the Bolt compact hatchback is back in Chevrolet’s lineup as an affordable EV offering with a base price of $28,995 (all prices include destination fee), making it one of the cheapest models currently on sale.
- What’s interesting about it: Despite its position as an entry-level EV, the Bolt comes with high-tech features like an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google Built-In and available Super Cruise hands-free driving.
- Range and charging: Manufacturer-estimated range is 262 miles, and Chevrolet says the Bolt can go from 10%-80% charge in as little as 25 minutes on a DC fast charger.

2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9
- What it is: The Ioniq 9 is a three-row SUV with space for up to seven people.
- What’s interesting about it: The Ioniq 9’s interior is designed to be configurable with first- and second-row relaxation seats that fully recline and an available sliding center console.
- Range and charging: EPA-estimated range is up to 335 miles with rear-wheel drive and 320 miles with all-wheel drive, and Hyundai says it can go from 10%-80% in as little as 24 minutes on a DC fast charger.
- On-sale date: Available now
2026 Jeep Recon
- What it is: The mid-size Recon is an off-road-oriented electric SUV that offers the open-air freedom of the Wrangler with its removable doors and glass.
- What’s interesting about it: Despite the Recon’s off-road focus, it’s also quite quick, with a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds, according to Jeep.
- Range and charging: Jeep-estimated range is up to 250 miles, and the brand says it can charge from 5%-80% in as little as 28 minutes on a DC fast charger.
- On-sale date: Early 2026
2026 Nissan Leaf
- What it is: Nissan has transformed the Leaf from a basic commuter car to a sleek, stylish crossover with a futuristic design inside and out.
- What’s interesting about it: The Leaf has charging ports on each front fender, with a Tesla-style fast-charge port on the passenger side, to make it easier to plug-in at charging stations.
- Range and charging: EPA-estimated range is up to 303 miles, and Nissan says the Leaf can DC fast-charge from 10%-80% in 35 minutes.
- On-sale date: Available now
2026 Polestar 4
- What it is: The new Polestar 4 gives the all-EV brand a coupe-like SUV, and it’s available with RWD or AWD.
- What’s interesting about it: The 4 has a solid panel instead of a glass rear window, with rear visibility provided by a rearview camera mirror.
- Range and charging: EPA-estimated range is up to 310 miles, and Polestar says DC fast-charging from 10%-80% takes 30 minutes.
- On-sale date: Available now
2026 Subaru Uncharted
- What it is: The Uncharted is a new electric SUV with coupe-like styling.
- What’s interesting about it: The Uncharted starts at an affordable $36,445.
- Range and charging: Subaru says the Uncharted will offer more than 300 miles of range and can DC fast-charge from 10%-80% in roughly 28 minutes.
- On-sale date: Early 2026
2026 Subaru Trailseeker
- What it is: The Trailseeker is a mid-size electric wagon that’s designed to handle light off-roading duty, similar to the brand’s Outback.
- What’s interesting about it: The Trailseeker is the quickest production vehicle Subaru has sold in the U.S., with a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds, according to the automaker.
- Range and charging: Subaru says the Trailseeker offers around 280 miles of range and can DC fast-charge from 10%-80% in as little as 28 minutes.
- On-sale date: Early 2026
2026 Subaru Solterra
- What it is: The refreshed Solterra gets more range, a new Tesla-style charging port, updated exterior styling and a larger touchscreen for the 2026 model year.
- What’s interesting about it: A new performance-focused XT version joins the lineup with 338 hp and offers a 0-60 time of less than five seconds, according to Subaru.
- Range and charging: EPA-estimated range is up to 288 miles, and Subaru says it can DC fast-charge from 10%-80% in around 30 minutes.
- On-sale date: Available now
2026 Toyota bZ
- What it is: Formerly known as the bZ4X, the bZ is related to the Solterra and, like the Subaru, gets more range, a new Tesla-style charging port and updated exterior styling as part of its refresh for the 2026 model year.
- What’s interesting about it: While the Solterra comes standard with AWD, there are front-wheel-drive versions of the bZ that offer more driving range.
- Range and charging: EPA-estimated range is up to 314 miles, and Toyota says it can DC fast-charge from 10%-80% in around 30 minutes.
