Bigger Where It Counts
Interior room is a priority for compact SUV buyers and one where the CX-5 has trailed class leaders — until now. The 2026 redesign takes care of that, with a 4.5-inch increase in overall length, a 4.6-inch bump in wheelbase and a notable 2.3-inch increase in rear-seat knee room. Cargo room has also increased, gaining another 1.8 inches of usable length and increased height. In addition, a lower lift-in height makes for easier loading and unloading. Front-seat room was never an issue with the CX-5 and remains generous with the redesign. Visibility remains a strong suit thanks to a low beltline and dash.

Upscale Look and Feel
Mazda has long been known for interiors that punch above their weight in terms of materials quality and overall ambiance, and that continues with the redesigned CX-5. The cabin design is clean and modern, with soft-touch materials that look good and have a quality feel. Tight stitching and tasteful use of color add to the upscale look, particularly in upper trims with pleasing two-tone upholstery combinations.
The redesign brings a new Google-based multimedia system that transforms the CX-5 with a much more modern and easy-to-use interface than the old rotary-style controller. Most trims get a 12.9-inch touchscreen that is much bigger than the old screen, with simple menus and large icons. Top trims get a huge 15.6-inch touchscreen, making it the largest display ever used in a Mazda. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard on all trims except the base 2.5 S, where they require a wired connection.
Features by Trim
Other standard features include cloth upholstery, a digital instrument display, automatic climate control, an eight-speaker audio system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, two USB-C and 12-volt power outlets, and an extensive suite of electronic driver assistance features.
Moving up to 2.5 S Select trim gets added niceties, including privacy glass, auto-folding heated side mirrors, leatherette and cloth upholstery, wireless phone charging, and keyless entry. The 2.5 S Preferred trim adds 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a head-up display. The Premium’s standard features include leather upholstery, a panoramic moonroof and added black trim, while the top Premium Plus piles on extras including adaptive front lighting, a 360-degree camera, and additional safety and convenience features.
