New Toyota Highlander Cash-Back Deals Before It Becomes an EV
What Consumers Need to Know
- Toyota is offering cash back on 2024, 2025 and 2026 Highlanders and Highlander Hybrids.
- Toyota just unveiled the next-generation 2027 Highlander SUV, which becomes a fully electric vehicle.
There’s a dramatic shift on the horizon: The 2027 Toyota Highlander will switch to purely electric power. Before that, however, Toyota is offering cash back on the current-generation Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
Currently, there are two deals on the table: dealer cash and a loyalty incentive. Dealer cash is a payment from the manufacturer to the dealer to use as they please. It’s not usually advertised, so shoppers will have to mention it to their dealer. Purchase loyalty incentives are cash provided to current owners of a brand’s vehicles when they buy a new model from the same brand. Purchase loyalty may also apply to other brands by the same carmaker — in this case, that’s Lexus since Lexus is Toyota’s luxury arm.

Is the Toyota Highlander Being Discontinued?
The Toyota Highlander is not being discontinued, but the Highlander as we have known it will cease to be in late 2026; that’s when the new 2027 Highlander EV goes on sale. The current-generation Highlander, with its gas and hybrid powertrains, will be retired at that point.
What’s the Difference Between the Highlander and Grand Highlander?
Currently, the Highlander is a smaller three-row SUV and the Grand Highlander is a larger three-row SUV that more appropriately competes with SUVs like the Volkswagen Atlas, Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade. The 2027 Highlander EV also has three rows of seating, but it will be available exclusively with an electric powertrain. The current-generation Grand Highlander will remain on sale with its gas and hybrid powertrains.
