What Truck Shoppers Need to Know

  • The updated 2027 Super Duty, which includes the F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550, gives buyers more off-road and luxury options.
  • The off-road-focused Tremor package can now be optioned with the 8-foot bed, while base XL trims get their own off-road package.
  • Chassis-cab models can now be had in a new Platinum trim.

If there’s one thing Ford does, it’s listening to its customers when it comes to its pickup trucks. So, when this buyer base asks for something, Ford listens — and it’s done that again with the updated 2027 F-Series Super Duty. For 2027, Ford is expanding its popular off-road-oriented Tremor package to all trims of the Super Duty, including the base XL. The automaker is also expanding luxury to the biggest and most commercial-focused models of the Super Duty series, the F-350, F-450 and F-550 Chassis Cabs.

Off-Road for All

Ford says the Tremor Off-Road Package can now be optioned on the base Super Duty XL with the STX Appearance Package. That package gets you 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires wrapped around matte-black 18-inch wheels, an electronic locking rear differential, a factory lift with what the marque says is a Tremor-tuned suspension, skid plates, and Ford’s Trail Control and Rock Crawl Mode. Ford says it expanded this package to all trims in response to seeing customers making their Super Duty off-road-ready on their own, so it wanted to offer something straight from the factory.

Tremor Package With Long Box

Apparently, a Super Duty customer existed that wanted to both haul and go off-road. In response, Ford made the Tremor Off-Road Package available on Super Duty crew cabs equipped with the longest 8-foot bed. In addition to the equally massive 176-inch wheelbase and off-road goods in the Tremor package, Super Duty Tremors with this configuration get a 48-gallon fuel tank, which Ford says is the largest ever equipped on a Super Duty pickup — though with gas prices higher than they’ve been in a while, filling that giant tank will cost you at the pump if that trend continues. The Super Duty Tremor with the 8-foot bed will be available on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum trims.

A No-Frills Off-Roader

Not all Super Duty customers want the luxuries that tend to come with packages like the Tremor. Many of these are commercial customers who want the off-road goods but in a basic work truck. In past years, the package for that crew was the XL Off-Road Package, basically a Tremor work truck special that came with 33-inch off-road tires, a locking rear differential, water-fording capability and skid plates — but Ford says these commercial customers complained that the package didn’t give the trucks enough ground clearance. So, for 2027, a new XL Off-Road 35-inch Tire Package is available for the XL trim. In addition to the off-road parts the existing package came with, this new package includes performance-tuned shocks, a transfer case, fuel tank skid plates, as well as off-road assistance features Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist and Rock Crawl Mode.

None of this is to say that the previous XL Off-Road Package is going away. Ford says it’s sticking around and for 2027 is being renamed XL Off-Road 33-Inch Tire Package, giving buyers two ways to get the basic off-road Super Duty they want.

A Luxury Commercial Rig

Elsewhere, F-350, 450 and 550 Chassis Cabs can now be optioned in the luxurious Platinum trim. This was done in response to owners of vehicles such as overlanding rigs, custom horse trailers and race teams towing vehicles asking about the Platinum trim on chassis cabs. These buyers now can get the same luxe Platinum variant as the regular Super Duty models, which includes Platinum-grade interior trim, leather-trimmed seating and Ford’s Sync 4 infotainment system.

Ford says all pricing for these new packages and trims will be available later in 2026.
