Jeep has issued another sizable recall this month, this time involving roughly 58,000 of its Wrangler SUVs. The recall involves an unnecessary stud that was added during vehicle production.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2020-23 Wrangler SUVs. Some of these models may have been produced with an unnecessary frame stud, which may puncture the fuel tank in the event of a crash and cause a fuel leak. A fuel leak increases the risk of a fire and injury, especially when it occurs near an ignition source.
As a fix, dealers will inspect and remove the frame stud and cover the area with paint, as necessary, for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent May 12, but those with further questions can contact Jeep parent automaker Stellantis at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis’ number for this recall is 28A), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
