Here’s How the 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid’s Pricing and MPG Stack Up to the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid and Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid

What Car Shoppers Need to Know

Kia has announced pricing for the soon-to-arrive hybrid version of its redesigned 2027 Telluride SUV, and they’re about where we expected them to be. You’ll pay a $7,300 premium for a Telluride Hybrid over its gas-only sibling, but the extra costs are in line with those of the related Hyundai Palisade and Palisade Hybrid (the Palisade is the Telluride’s corporate cousin).

Likewise, the 2027 Telluride Hybrid’s pricing is also generally on par with model-year 2026 pricing for the Palisade Hybrid and rival Toyota Grand Highlander. Pricing for the 2027 Palisade and Grand Highlander hasn’t been released yet, but we don’t expect significant changes in equipment or pricing for either vehicle.

Release Date and Pricing

The 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid is slated to begin arriving in dealerships in March. Full pricing is as follows, and all trims are all-wheel drive unless otherwise noted:

  • EX FWD: $48,035
  • EX AWD: $50,035
  • SX FWD: $53,035
  • X-Line SX: $56,035
  • SX-P: $58,135
  • X-Line SX-P: $59,135

Choosing the entry-level Telluride Hybrid EX over the gas-only Telluride’s base LX trim tacks on a premium of $7,300, but the hybrid EX includes more standard equipment, such as synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, and a hands-free power liftgate. Upgrading to the gas Telluride’s comparable EX trim shrinks the price gap to $2,700.

Fuel Economy and Pricing Vs. Hyundai Palisade Hybrid

The Kia Telluride Hybrid and Hyundai Palisade Hybrid share the same basic powertrain: a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with electric motors for a total output of 329 horsepower. Kia hasn’t released full Telluride fuel-economy numbers yet but lists the Telluride Hybrid at 35 mpg in combined driving for the base EX trim with FWD. The Telluride Hybrid’s fuel economy should be comparable to the 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid’s, which is rated at 31 or 34 mpg combined with FWD depending on trim, and 29 mpg combined with AWD.

The Palisade Hybrid starts at $45,760 in base SEL trim, versus $41,035 for the gas Palisade’s base SE trim. That $4,725 gap shrinks to $2,220 when upgrading to the regular Palisade’s SEL trim — about $480 less than the Telluride Hybrid’s premium over a comparable gas Telluride, though standard equipment levels likely differ to a similar degree. Likewise, the $2,275 premium for a base Telluride Hybrid EX over a base Palisade Hybrid SEL can largely be chalked up to the Telluride’s higher level of standard equipment.

Fuel Economy and Pricing Vs. Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid

The math is similar when comparing the Telluride Hybrid to the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid. The Grand Highlander Hybrid’s entry-level LE trim is about $1,500 cheaper than the Telluride Hybrid EX, and the Toyota comes with a competitive level of standard equipment. The Grand Highlander Hybrid’s standard powertrain isn’t as gutsy as the hybrid Telluride’s or Palisade’s; it’s a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid setup rated at 245 hp total. However, the Grand Highlander Hybrid’s high-line trims offer a turbocharged 2.4-liter Hybrid Max powertrain that’s rated at 362 hp total, besting the Palisade and Telluride hybrid powertrain by 33 hp.

The Telluride Hybrid is more competitive with the Grand Highlander Hybrid at the upper end of the trim roster. The Grand Highlander Hybrid’s line-topping Platinum trim commands a $2,735 premium over the flagship Telluride Hybrid X-Line SX-P trim, but the Platinum doesn’t have any significant features over the X-Line SX-P other than the more powerful Hybrid Max powertrain.

The Grand Highlander Hybrid’s fuel-economy numbers top the Palisade Hybrid’s and should best the Telluride Hybrid, as well. With its base powertrain, the Grand Highlander Hybrid is rated at 36 mpg combined with FWD and 34 mpg combined with AWD. The Hybrid Max powertrain, which comes standard with AWD, is rated at 27 mpg combined.
