Does Mitsubishi Still Sell the Mirage and Mirage G4?
What Car Shoppers Need to Know
- The Mitsubishi Mirage was last available as a 2024 model-year car.
- Today’s cheapest new car is more than $4,000 pricier than the 2024 Mirage.
- Dealers still have a few new Mirages in inventory.
For the entirety of its 11-year run, the last-generation Mitsubishi Mirage traded the title of “most affordable new car” with competitors like the Nissan Versa. But it can be hard to make a business case for affordability, and Mitsubishi discontinued the Mirage and Mirage G4 (hatchback and sedan, respectively) after the 2024 model year.
Its last full year on sale, the Mirage was Mitsubishi’s second-bestselling vehicle. It trailed only the Outlander, topping the Eclipse Cross and Outlander Sport — both of which Mitsubishi still makes — combined.

Was the Mitsubishi Mirage a Good Car?
The Mirage was much of what you’d expect from a basic, budget-focused new car. It was slow, noisy and cramped. However, it was also extremely efficient, with EPA-rated fuel economy of up to 36/43/39 mpg. Its feathery curb weight of nearly 2,100 pounds — some 200 pounds lighter than a Mazda MX-5 Miata — made it kind of fun on a winding road.
In later years, the Mirage’s standard equipment included niceties like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and keyless entry. Forward collision warning was standard in 2024, the Mirage’s final year on sale, with lane departure warning available.
Mitsubishi Mirage New-Car Alternatives
With both the Mirage and Versa gone, the most affordable new car on the market today is the 2026 Hyundai Venue, which has a base price of $22,150 (including destination). That’s an increase of more than $4,000 from the 2024 Mirage’s $18,110 starting price.
They might be more expensive, but you at least get what you pay for with today’s cheapest new cars. Our list of the 10 cheapest new cars you can buy right now includes some genuinely appealing vehicles: Chevrolet Trax, Honda Civic, Kia K4 and Mazda 3, to name a few. If new examples of those are out of reach, low-mileage used models would be a fine place to start your search.
What if You Really Want a New Mitsubishi Mirage?
Mitsubishi may have stopped building the Mirage, but people haven’t bought up quite all of them yet. More than 14,000 were sold last year, and nearly 90 Mirages and Mirage G4s are listed in Cars.com inventory as of this writing. Since they’ve been sitting on dealer lots now for close to a year, there’s a better than average chance of negotiating a solid deal on one.
