2018 Nissan Altima Gets Standard Auto Brake
CARS.COM — Nissan’s family sedan is getting a safety-features boost for 2018 and a small price bump for 2018. The 2018 Altima starts at $24,025 — $240 higher than the base model-year 2017 version — and includes the automatic emergency braking and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning systems as standard equipment; all prices include an $885 destination charge.

Powertrains carry over for 2018. Four-cylinder models use a 2.5-liter unit that makes 179 horsepower, and V-6 models use a 270-hp, 3.5-liter setup; both engines pair with a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Nissan simplified the sedan’s lineup for 2018 to 2.5 S, 2.5 SR, 2.5 SV, 2.5 SL and 3.5 SL models; the base 2.5 and 3.5 SR are no longer available. Other trim level changes include the top 3.5 SL now getting standard adaptive cruise control, as well as NissanConnect with navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.
The starting price gets you the 2.5 S trim, the lineup’s new base model. Stepping up from there is the 2.5 SR ($25,085), the 2.5 SV ($26,670), the 2.5 SL ($29,880) and lastly the 3.5 SL ($34,395). In terms of competitors, the Altima is more expensive than the 2018 Hyundai Sonata ($22,935) and Ford Fusion ($22,995) but slightly less than the 2018 Toyota Camry ($24,895). Honda has not yet announced prices for the redesigned-for-2018 Accord.
