What Consumers Should Know

  • The 2026 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid starts at $42,950 (all prices include destination), less than the outgoing RAV4 PHEV.
  • It’s good for up to 52 miles of all-electric range compared with the outgoing model’s 42 miles.
  • The 2026 Toyota RAV4 PHEV goes on sale in the spring.

Toyota redesigned its RAV4 for 2026 and moved the compact SUV to a hybrid-only powertrain. The switch means a more powerful and more efficient RAV4, but it also means a more expensive one. The also-redesigned 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, however, got less expensive for model-year 2026; it starts at $42,950, well below model-year 2025’s starting price of $46,265.

The RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid is, you guessed it, a plug-in electric hybrid that offers around 50 miles of electric-only range versus the standard RAV4.

That price is for the RAV4 PHEV in base SE trim; it’ll also be available in Woodland ($46,700) XSE ($48,600) and GR Sport ($49,950) trims.  And you’re getting more for less: The 2025 PHEV was good for 42 miles of all-electric range and a 38 mpg combined rating, per the EPA. Meanwhile, the base 2026 version’s numbers jump to a manufacturer estimated 52 miles and 41 mpg combined. Power is also up from 302 horsepower to 324 hp.

2026 Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid (Base SE) 2025 Toyota RAV4 Prime (Outgoing PHEV Model)
Starting price $42,950 $46,265
All-electric range 52 miles (manufacturer estimated) 42 miles (per the EPA)
Combined fuel economy 41 mpg (manufacturer estimated) 38 mpg (per the EPA)
Output (horsepower) 324 302

The RAV4 PHEV’s lowered price puts it better in line with competitors. The 2026 Kia Sportage PHEV starts lower at $41,985 but also offers less range and efficiency with 33 miles of EV range and a 36 mpg combined rating. The 2026 Nissan Rogue PHEV starts higher at $47,535 and also offers less EV range with 38 miles of range and a 26 mpg combined rating.

The 2026 RAV4 PHEV goes on sale this spring.
