Value with MPG

Average 49-50 MPG. On my old 07 Prius, it was 45. At 5'2", I find the seats and ride comfortable. Have been back to the dealer twice for tutoring on the electronics (I'm 68 y/o) and each time an available salesman came out and very pleasantly helped me. One negative - the touch-screen is angled to catch the sun and when the sun shines, the back-up camera image is impossible to see.

Love the MPG

Love my new Prius. I am not a huge fan of the exterior design, but the interior is very nice and functional. I have had it about 2 months and average around 51mpg. A little slow on exceleration but if you need more power to merge, there is a power boost button. My teenager was embarrassed of the car at first, but once his friends rode in it wth us , they all thought it was a "cooll car" The bluetooth and great radio didn't hurt that case. I highly recommend it so far.

Prius V

Don't try to get a power driver's seat-available on the hattchback, but not on the V! Otherwise you get the usual Prius efficiency with more cargo capacity and less economy. The only real selling point for the Prius's, I think, is the fuel economy relative to other vehicles available at the same rough price range such as: Kia Sorento EX 4cyl, fwd; Chevy Equinox LT 4 cyl, fwd; VW Jetta TDI SportWagen. ETC.

decent car for the money

It looks better inside than outside. Great for the current gas price! Wish it would handle turns better.

Super car for people concerned about MPG

I have never owned a Prius before but after buying one now I think I will only buy a Prius from now on. It is a hypermiliers dream car. i am getting well over 60 MPG and that is with highway driving and carpooling with my wife daily 50 miles. Prior to this we had an old Lexus and it was getting only 24 MPG and a weekly fillup of $50 to $70 per week, depending on gas prices. The Prius I fill up evey two weeks at around $30. Love it! Having said all this, I drive very conservatively which allows me to max MPG. A normal driver can still get 45-55 MPG.

Fantastic economy and safety

We were run into from behind by an Acura SUV going 50+ mph. Our Prius II was total loss and we walked away with minor seat belt bruises. I am replacing lost vehicle with another Prius II.

Not perfect, but very good.

I've had the Prius for about 6 weeks and have taken 3 400 mile trips with it. The first over a mountain range in cold snow weather. The car handled fine and was able to handle the steep climbs well. Although at freeway speed you could really hear that little 4 cylinder screaming. I got 40 mpg on this trip. The second trip over flatter roads and a max speed of 70 mph 47.5 mpg was achieved. The last trip over the mountains again at 70 rather an 74 mph and in slightly warmer weather 43.5 mpg was achieved. My driving around town has been all over 45 mpg. These figures are based on odo / gallons to fill tank. Overall about what I had expected. An issue that I would like to see resolved by Toyota is the errors in the computer feed back. With this great technology I find it interesting that the mph, the mpg are both incorrect. The mph after going thru 4 "this is your speed" radar sets on an Oregon freeway indicated that at 70 and 74 mph speedometer reading the radar stated 67 and 70 respectively. As for the on board computer readout of mpg it, like my last 3 vehicles, is off by roughly 4 mpg. This seems to me to be a marketing ploy to make you feel good and a wish that you don''t discover the ....... As far as handling and comfort, for a smaller car designed to light and fuel efficient, it's a resonable compromise. The most bothersome issue is the road noise. The hatch back's open space probably adds to this, but a few pounds of sound deadening wouldn't affect the fuel efficiency at all. I'll be looking into aftermarket fixes for this. Overall if this car will perform as well as my last 2 Camrys at 30% better mileage I'll be very pleased.

My FIRST solo car purchase

I am 66, Widowed, and just Purchased the 2012 Prius IV March 9th. So far I've put on 2,345 miles. That included a road trip from Columbus, IN to Columbus, GA. The comfort and ride were as good as I've ever experienced. MPG is running an average of 48 mpg. Of course no problems and none expected this early. There are two things I've noticed. 1. After driving a Town N Country for 8 years I'm getting used to the reduced vision out the front windshield. I can't see the front of the car from inside no mater how seat is adjusted. I'm 5'7". The second is I feel the need to take a class on all the new electronic devices and displays. Seating was uncomfortable in lower end models but this Prius IV with leather seats is great. After driving a good way I don't feel stiff or have a sore back at all. Overall, I've watched this car since it first came on the market and am pleased to finally own one. Only reason I rated Value a 4 is that I don't use or need many of the extra electronics included to get the leater. Thanks to Cars.com: for all the help.

Prius

We are very satisfied with our new Prius 2. The ride is solid with little road noise. So far our mileage has averaged over 52 MPG and with gas prices on the rise that is welcomed performance indeed. We highly recommend the Prius for both city and highway driving.
