New 2012 Prius

Have really enjoyed our new prius. Gotten great gas mileage. Have over 4000 miles in just two months. Highly recommend the car. Love the solar roof option. Really cools the car down in hot weather.

Really does get over 50 mpg

"Very pretty, sporty, smooth. The Entune never works, the map's radar is a joke, so is the mapping. The inside is very cramped. I have to keep the car because of the gas mileage which is awesome, but we are constantly bumping into each other. our drink mugs are too big for the cup holders, there is no where to put my purse. We ate in the car on a road trip and that was very nerve racking. No spills, but if this car did not get such good gas mileage, I would take it back. The car phone is the best. So clear on both ends. No complaints about the phone. The big windshield makes the car HOT. The Solar panel does not help at all. I actually got sun burn on the tops of my legs on a road trip. There are plenty of places to put things in the back of this car, but NO cubbies for trash, cup holders are too close, sun shines too much on dashboard to see car's specifics during the day. I think the cloth interior is cheap looking and feels like it will be tearing soon on the arm rests and the console."

Best economy I've ever owned

I bought this 2012 Prius for obvious reasons: fuel economy, and that's what I got. I wasn't sure whether the computer-calculated mileage was accurate, so I've been calculating it myself the old fashion way. Happily, from fill-up to fill-up my mileage was pretty much the same as what was displayed on the Prius computer display. Sometimes the actual mileage was 1 or 1.5 mpg less that what Prius calculated and sometimes the actual was better by .5 to 1 mpg. So at least I can rely pretty much on the stats that the car is giving me. So the big upside for the car is the great gas mileage. However, the biggest downside is the slow acceleration. I tend to drive a lot slower than I normally would, trying to conserve as much gas as possible, which leads me to the next upside of the car. It keeps me out of trouble! When I see other cars being stopped for speeding, I go along my merry way realizing I'm driving more responsibly than I ever have before. My other car is a Lexus GS350 which gives me all the thrills I need. But the satisfaction I get from driving my Prius by spending so little for gas gives me a different kind of satisfaction, which is even more dear to my heart. SAVING MONEY! Other good things, many of which surprised me, are the comfort when driving long distances and the general build quality. The Entunes entertainment system is a wonderful feature that was very unexpected.

Love my Beautiful Blue Prius!

Price high for 3 year old Beauty. Ride=nearly silently smooth. Backup camera still confuses me some. Push button start/stop is a joy. Was not instructed about fuses and found it impossible to change them. Toyota Service took care of that. Love the car.

Going Green @ My Age ?

I did my home work. I shopped the internet. I compared Hybrid's , read everything I could on each and every car company manufacturing a Hybrid. Then I took a long hard look at the CAR from my past. Those that had the styling but lack the quality , service records and expenses. At the age of 64 and the US dollar almost worthless , my Stocks in the hole and my money in the bank paying less than what I made on a pass book savings as a kid .... I decided to go for a 2012 Prius. I knew i wanted the solar sun roof living in Florida to help keep the interior cool. I wanted Driving Lights to be SEEN , I wanted the Heads up Display in the Windshield and I wanted a GPS .... I found all those features in my 2012 Prius IV ( Level four ) . I found a color "Sea Glass Pearl " that doesn't show the dirt like a white or dark color car and after driving off the lot I am discovering more and more features that I am finding to be very enjoyable. Dollar for Dollar I expect to keep this vehicle for for at least 6 - 8 years. The savings at the GAS pump in the 1st 30 days is remarkable with almost 1000 miles on it. The fact that Toyota is offering Toyota care for the next two years covering the routine Maintenance made my deal even sweeter. I've always taught the kids .... Take care of the Vehicle and it will take care of you.

Excellent Commutor Car

I have owned my Prius II for approximately 3 months now. I have a 120-mile daily commute and the MPG on this is superb. I moved from a previous Honda Civic Coupe to this and the efficiency gain is approximately 75% - imagine, over a Civic! Overall the car is very roomy and comfortable. If you plan to have 2 car seats in the back-seat plus an adult, know this: It is very tight, but doable. The car is best for crawling traffic on the freeway but not as great for stop and go. Also, cruising at 65mph on the freeway, it still gives you good MPG. Steering feels a bit heavy at times. The technology content in this car is great; I love the displays, Bluetooth, etc. There is only one thing that bothers me personally. There is something with the seating ergonomics that causes the back of my left knee (free leg) to hurt after long commutes. Perhaps my body is getting acquainted to this new seating position or there may be something with the foot-rest. By the way, the seating position is a lot more upright and erect compared to more laid-back seating positions. I would have liked a bit less plastic on the interior design but it doesn't bother me. I won't mention reliability and value because we are talking about a Toyota.

Lever 4 Prius

Love the car in general, my 2nd Prius and definitely an improvement. Interior looks better, rides improved, some improvement in mileage, but not getting 50 mpg, nearer to 47-48 mpg. Pretty much like it all with one exception. I would have tried to get an upgrade of the navigation/sound system. Not happy with that. The sound/reception is generally poor compared to other cars I've had and the navigation too. Go for the upgrade if you care.

New Prius Guy

I love the car! As a matter of fact, I just drove it home today from work 29 miles and got 60.4 mpg. Averaging about 52-53 mpg per tank with mix city/highway. Try driving 500 miles and filling your tank with 9.3 gallons. That's a cool feeling! I'm not so crazy about the granola liberal reputation of the Prius and their owners, and I feel like I need an NRA or GOP bumper sticker on it, but I got it for the mileage and the great basic features on this car. I can sit still in traffic with my engine off and the A/C still blowing cold on me. I can drive about a mile with electric only. Acceleration is something to get used to when driving in ECO mode. I can't blast off the line like I can in my other vehicles, but driving this car has made me a more relaxed driver to tell you the truth. And if I'm late for work I can put it in Power mode and let the 1.8 gas engine go to work which gives me about equal pick-up to my other sedan. Love the basic features at the level II that I have, handsfree bluetooth, automatic thermostat with very cold A/C. Handling is good- steering tight with mini-turn radius. Back seat is surprizingly big. My 6'1" son can sit in the back with me in the front with inches to spare. Can fit 5 fairly large kids in the back without a problem. Overall, Best car I've had. Hope it lasts 300,000 miles!

Gas savings made up for higher payment

I still had car payments on my previous car and if I bought any other car, it would have added to my monthly expenses. However, because the prius uses so little gas, the difference was made up in the gas savings. Payments on old car using alot of gas or car payments on new car helping the environment? Not a tough decision.
