1. 2026 GMC Hummer EV SUV
The only electric SUV to make our list, the Hummer EV SUV tops it, with a 300-pound increase in towing capacity for 2026 lifting the total figure to 10,300 pounds. For max trailering capability, you’ll need to stick with the base 2X dual-motor trim, which has four-wheel drive and a total of 570 horsepower. The Hummer EV SUV has a massive battery pack, as well as an active air suspension that can raise the ground clearance by 6 inches. The 2X trim can be equipped with an Extreme Off-Road Package that lowers the tow rating to 9,800 pounds. With even more stunning acceleration, the tri-motor 3X variant is also available, but even with the off-road package, its tow rating maxes out at 7,500 pounds.
2. 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer L
Sharing a platform with the Ram 1500, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer can be supersized into an L variant with an extended wheelbase and an additional foot in overall length; the extra space goes to the cargo area behind the third row. Only available in Grand guise for 2026 (the just-plain Wagoneer and Wagoneer L are discontinued), the Grand Wagoneer also gets an engine downgrade. The standard powerplant is now the lower-output version of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six Hurricane, which makes 420 hp and 468 pounds-feet. Without the Heavy-Duty Trailer-Tow Package, Grand Wagoneer tow ratings hover around 6,000 pounds. (The exact figure depends on wheelbase and number of driven wheels.) Only available with 4WD, the package includes a lower final-drive ratio, a limited-slip rear differential and integrated trailer brake controller. With it, the Grand Wagoneer can tow up to 10,000 pounds, while the Grand Wagoneer L tows a maximum of 9,860.
3. 2026 Ford Expedition/Expedition Max
With the Expedition’s 2025 refresh, Ford shelved the base engine and base trim for more popular, higher-output versions of a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 that makes either 400 hp and 480 pounds-feet of torque or 440 hp and 510 pounds-feet. Unlike most trucks and some SUVs on this list, the 4WD versions of the Expedition and its extended-wheelbase brother tow more because they’re equipped with a heavier-duty 3.73 rear axle ratio; they also come standard with a Class IV trailer-hitch receiver. The standard 4WD Expedition can tow up to 9,600 pounds (6,000 pounds with RWD), while the 4WD Expedition Max tows 9,000 pounds (6,300 pounds with RWD). Keep in mind that if you opt for the Tremor trim or the splashy 24-inch wheel package, it’ll eat into the towing capacity.
4. 2026 Toyota Sequoia
Sharing a platform and hybrid powertrain with the Toyota Tundra pickup truck, the three-row Sequoia tows up to 9,520 pounds in its base SR5 trim with RWD. It uses a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine that works with an electric motor and a 10-speed automatic transmission to produce a total of 437 hp and 583 pounds-feet of torque. Making the Sequoia 4WD drops the towing capacity to 9,120 pounds, and the additional weight from more loaded trims also eats away at towing capacity.
5. 2026 Lexus GX 550
In its second year after an overdue redesign, Lexus’s boxy three-row SUV also shares the body-on-frame platform of the Sequoia and a host of other Toyota and Lexus full-size vehicles. With a new Overtrail trim level that boosts the suspension an inch, the GX 550 plays the part of rugged off-roader. But the GX 550 comes without a hybrid powertrain, with its twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine generating 349 hp and 479 pounds-feet of torque. It comes with standard 4WD, and towing capacity peaks at 9,096 pounds.
6. 2026 Lincoln Navigator/Navigator L (Tie)
Like Ford’s Expedition, the posh Lincoln Navigator got a refresh for the 2025 model year. Neither it nor the long-wheelbase Navigator L can be had with RWD since 4WD is standard; also standard is the higher-output 440-hp twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6. The Navigator can tow up to 8,700 pounds in both sizes, but if you opt up from the 22-inch to the 24-inch wheels, towing capacity lowers to a maximum of 8,500 pounds.
7. 2026 Dodge Durango (Tie)
The only vehicle on this list that doesn’t share a platform with a truck, the Dodge Durango soldiers on and off with the Hemi V-8; the aging three-row SUV shares a platform with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both its 5.7-liter V-8 and supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 with all-wheel drive and the Tow ‘n Go Package (only needed with the 5.7) can tow 8,700 pounds. With the base 3.6-liter V-6 engine, the Durango can tow 6,200 pounds.
8. 2026 Nissan Armada (Tie)
Redesigned for 2025, the Nissan Armada full-size SUV shares more with the global Nissan Patrol now that the Titan pickup truck has been discontinued. The old V-8 is gone in favor of a new 425-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 that churns out 516 pounds-feet of torque. The Armada’s nine-speed automatic transmission can send power to either the rear or all four wheels, and either drivetrain configuration can tow up to 8,500 pounds. The eight-seater comes standard with a seven-pin wiring harness, Class IV hitch, sway control and a trailer brake controller.
9. 2026 Infiniti QX80 (Tie)
The flagship of both Nissan and Infiniti, the QX80 uses much of the same mechanicals as the Armada, except its V-6 is tuned to 450 hp. It tows up to 8,500 pounds, which is the same as the outgoing V-8’s towing capacity. The QX80 will cost about $25,000 more than the Armada, but it comes with more luxurious features such as an air suspension and massaging seats.
10. 2026 Land Rover Range Rover
If you need to tow upward of four tons and want to do so in utter luxury, there are few better SUVs than the Range Rover. Land Rover’s flagship SUV is available in two wheelbases, the longer of which can be had with three rows of seats or just an extra-spacious second row. Towing capacity varies not with wheelbase or seating configuration, however, just with engine choice. The standard P400 engine is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six; with it, the Rover can tow up to 7,716 pounds. The P550e has a plug-in hybrid powertrain based around the same engine that produces more power but can only tow 6,614 pounds. If you want to unlock the Range Rover’s full capability, you’ll have to opt for one of the available twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8s. The 523-hp P530 and 607-hp P615 — exclusive to and standard in the SV trim level — can both tug up to 8,200 pounds. A Towing Package available with all of the non-hybrid engines does not increase capacity, but does include a hitch and Advanced Tow Assist, which allows the driver to steer the trailer directly when reversing by dragging their finger across the infotainment touchscreen.
