How to See the Rivian R2 Before It’s Available for Test Drives
What Car Shoppers Need to Know

The all-new R2 is tremendously important for Rivian. A mid-size electric SUV, it brings the independent all-electric vehicle company into one of the most populous and popular vehicle classes. With an eventual base price of around $45,000, it will lower the brand’s price of entry by more than $25,000.
Rivian has said deliveries will begin in spring 2026, and test drives will be available on a similar time frame. But shoppers who want to get a closer look at the all-new EV sooner than that can scope it out on the R2 Block Party tour going on now through the end of May.

What Is a Rivian R2 Block Party?
R2 Block Party events are all-day affairs hosted at Rivian studios. (The brand’s direct-sales business model means it doesn’t have traditional dealerships.) Multiple R2s will be on hand at each party, and while shoppers won’t be able to test drive them, they can crawl inside and get a feel for the SUV.
The events also feature walkarounds with Rivian personnel, live music and food with a couture artisanal flair. At the inaugural event in Venice, Calif., Rivian’s “in-house Culinary Team” prepared locally sourced charred peas with mint pesto and ricotta toast.

The R2 Block Party is moving east across the U.S. through April, then it will head south in May.
