Impresses me every time I drive it

We have a 2006 Limited w/everything and we're so glad we do. I sold a Mercedes & BMW as soon as we got this one and have our other BMW & Lexus for sale. We're actually looking @ a 2010 Avalon Ltd. as a replacement. I am a car junkie and have always owned Jags(6) Mercedes(9)BMW(4) Lexus LS (2)and other assorted wonders; this Avalon is the PICK OF THE LITTER; Drive it, you'll know what I mean.

best car going

In 2006 I went to get the new style Camry and I saw the Avalon made a deal and the Manager of that dealership killed the deal and I went to another and picked up a Limited and a mouth later my son picked up him one a touring model so that salesmen lost two sales, I am coming up on 97000 miles and just had the plugs changed and have not had one problem with the car and have driven it ever where and it is my daily driver of 80 miles round trip,I am in the market for another car because I get one every three years and I will get the 2010 Camry SE which is the best mid size car on the market barr none and I purchased my wife a 2008 Mazda 3 not to long ago and she don't what me to part with the Avalon so she want to keep it and get rid of the Mazda that is how much she like it and she is not into cars,it's all about the car and Toyota is topps in my book and I have had a lot of cars in my life time Acuras to Oldsmobile about 22 cars to be frank and Toyota ranks the highest, you can spend a lot on BMW,Audi,Mercedes that I consider and with the high cost of their up keep and the low cost of my Toyota how can you beat that.

Why Did I Buy This Car?

I purchased my white 2006 Avalon just before 2007, so that I would save big money with Toyotathon. I actually wasted a lot of money when I purchased this car. It looked like a great car to me. Big and roomy, nice ergonomics, lots of features, and excellent gas millage. About 9,000 miles into my ownership, the Avalon started to show its true colors. The stereo got all fuzzy and then just stopped working. That same week, the navigation screen cracked when the car got to cold. The dealership took care of both, all though they were not very customer friendly. I also became disappointed with the cars fit and finish. The exterior has a lot of plastic, and the paint scratches really easily. The interior has these neat folding compartments on the radio buttons, but they don't close anymore. Everything inside the car looks like it was made out of the cheapest possible materials, and the silver trim on the door panel has fallen off on the passenger side. While I do get 30 miles per gallon on the highway, the car requires premium! The sunroof also malfunctioned and will not open up anymore, which is a real disappointment. At 26,780 miles I was really disappointed, so I traded it in and purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ, which I love. It has a beautiful interior with nice materials, a big trunk, big cabin, and I still get 30 miles per gallon on the highway, but this car only need regular. I would strongly recommend that you do not purchase or lease an Avalon. Try a Chevy Malibu, Ford Taurus, or Chrysler 300 instead.

Bad Car

This car isn't a best buy. The lexus es class is a better buy. The Toyota Avalon 2005-2007 has many problems and the 2008-2009 Toyota Avalon had made changes I'd perfer to get the 2008-2009 Toyota Avalon has better performance and its a better buy but I suggest to get either the lexus es because the Toyota Avalon is a replica of the Lexus es but the Toyota Avalon is cheaper. Good Luck on your choice take my word and you will be satisfied. I owned an Avalon didn't like it, it was hard to sell but still got a rid of it with a big loss and I got the new Lexus es and im satisfied with lexus.

Toyota Avalon Not A Good Car

The Toyota Avalon isn't a good purchase. Except maybe for the 2008 and and the 2009 Avalon. Due to the 2005-2007 had many problems and the new 2008 and 2009 had many changes and the new look with the grill and the headlights. This Toyota Avalon is not as great what will be a better worth buying is the Toyota Camry 2007-2009. Good look, performance, and reliable. Good Luck

Problem with car

Did you know, you must keep your smart key at least five feet from the following: microwave, television, cell phone, etc. We have had to replace batteries in each of our smart key. The service rep let us read the letter they received from Toyota giving them this informatio. Don't you think they should have sent one to owners of the cars? Also, the manager of the sales department where we bought our car told us he was unaware of it. The biggest problem is our car has gone completely dead two times. The dealer cannot find out why this is happening. We cannot trust this car. When I called Toyota Customer Experience Center explaining our problems with the Avalon, I was told if you do not use the car for two weeks or over, you must disconnect the battery negative. If we leave it at the airport, we would have to do this or find the car dead. I do not know anything about a battery nor do I want to know. Also on page 31 of the manual if you stand within effective range of the entry function for more than 10 minutes and not use the key, you smart key will be disabled. We were told none of this at purchase. I would not have purchased $35,000 car with these stipulations....would you? The car does give you a nice ride and is very good on gas. However, these things are overridden by the above problems. We use this car mainly for long trips i.e. to NJ, Ohio, ND, Florida. It is just coming up to 30,000 miles. My dealer is looking into it but feels there is probably little that can be done. All Toyota Customer Service told me was "I must disconnect the battery negative if I let the car stand for two weeks or over." Buyer Be Ware!

Great Car

It flies from 40 to 80, though doesn't accelerate from o-40 as fast as I might have expected. I have the navigation system, which is confusing but really cool when it I get it working. The back seat is big enough to play handball, bigger than in my Suburban. Trunk is smallish, though, so I guess you have to tradeoff for the cavernous back seat. Driver seat gets uncomfortable for my back after an hour or two, hence the lower interior design rating. Stereo is great, and it rides better than our Cadillac did. I get 27-28 miles per gallon on the highway, and 25 around town. Not bad for a car with the kick that this car has. One MAJOR drawback...the headlights. I guess they don't have deer along side the road in Japan. They need to fix this. It is not a problem in the city or on the highway, but on dark country roads you are driving by radar.

Great Car!

This is simply a very solid car created by Toyota. They really get what a majority of the consumers are asking for in today's market. I am and continue to be impressed with this car. I looked at a few of the Avalon?s competition and they just didn?t measure up. I am not into the retro look and I know a lot of buyers out there feel the same like I do. I prefer the modern design and this car offer this with safety and quality. Toyota and the most of the foreign nameplate have just kept it SIMPLE and not going after either the extreme or conservative angle in their design. Good job Toyota!
