There are a lot of things I like about electric vehicles, from their instant torque that lets you scoot quickly from a stoplight to their smooth, quiet operation, but one thing I can’t stand is fast-charging them on a road trip. With sometimes-glitchy chargers in mostly inconvenient locations combined with the extra time that charging adds to a journey, it’s a drag on multiple levels.

But what if an EV had so much range that you didn’t have to plan your road trip around charging at all? That’s the kind of range promised by the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss; when equipped with the available Max battery, Chevrolet says the truck offers 478 miles of range.
We put this claim to the test on a recent 460-mile road trip; watch the video below to see whether we made it the whole way without stopping to charge.
