Toyota is recalling approximately 74,000 examples of its Corolla Cross Hybrid SUV over an issue with the pedestrian warning sound.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2023-25 Corolla Cross Hybrids. The pedestrian warning sound, which is a sound the car emits to alert pedestrians in the vicinity of its presence, may be quieter than intended when the vehicle is in Reverse, making the sound harder to hear and increasing the risk of a crash with a pedestrian.
Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by late May and instructed to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer to get the sound’s software updated for free. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 800-331-4331, visit Toyota.com/recall, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
