Key Points

  • The TRX returns as the Ram 1500 SRT TRX for the 2027 model year.
  • Its supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat Hemi V-8 engine will make 777 horsepower and 680 pounds-feet of torque.
  • Off-road features include a high-torque-capacity eight-speed automatic transmission, full-time four-wheel drive, 35-inch tires, 11.8 inches of ground clearance, extensive suspension travel and an Active Terrain Dynamics dampening system.
  • Available in the second half of 2026 with pricing starting at $102,590 (all prices include $2,595 destination charge)

The return of the V-8 continues at Ram. Along with the reintroduction of 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 for the 1500, Ram is bringing back a fan favorite, the TRX — and not only is it back, it has more power than ever before and a new name.

The return of the TRX not only brings back bonkers off-road performance to Ram’s lineup, it’s also the return of Ram parent automaker Stellantis’ SRT (Street Racing Technology) performance division. Because of this, the TRX isn’t simply the Ram TRX anymore; its new name is the Ram 1500 SRT TRX. The brand says it’s the first time in 19 model years that a Ram product has worn the SRT badge; the last SRT-badged Ram truck was the Viper-powered Dodge Ram 1500 SRT-10 in 2006.

The Most Powerful Production Gas-Powered Pickup

  • Takeaway: The Ram 1500 SRT TRX will have a 777-hp, supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V-8 engine and a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds.

Ram says the 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX is the most powerful production street-legal, gas-powered half-ton pickup truck ever — and for good reason, too. Just as before, the TRX is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat Hemi V-8, only this time around, it’s way more powerful. Output is up 75 hp over the 2024 model for a total of 777, and torque is up 30 pounds-feet to 680. Ram says this is enough to scoot the TRX to 60 mph in a supercar-like 3.5 seconds, which is wild for something that will likely weigh close to 7,000 pounds. All of that power also outmuscles the TRX’s next most powerful competitor, the Ford F-150 Raptor R, by 57 hp and 40 pounds-feet of torque.

Goodies Galore

  • Takeaway: The 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX will feature off-road equipment such as full-time 4WD, 35-inch tires and an Active Terrain Dynamics dampening system.

The TRX isn’t just about straight-line speed, it’s about blistering off-road performance, and it comes ready to go right out of the box. It starts with having a transmission able to handle the power and torque from the Hellcat V-8. The TRX is equipped with a high-torque-capacity eight-speed automatic transmission, which puts that power to the pavement through a full-time 4WD system with a full-time active transfer case.

Helping things off-road are meaty 35-inch tires wrapped around 18-inch wheels; 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels are optional. Behind those wheels is an independent front suspension with up to 13 inches of travel; in the rear is a Dana 60 axle setup with a five-link coil system and 14 inches of travel. In total, the TRX has 11.8 inches of ground clearance, the same as Ram’s next off-road pickup, the RHO, and 2 inches more than the 1500 Rebel. Further enhancing the suspension is a dampening system Ram calls Active Terrain Dynamics. Working with Bilstein Black Hawk e2 performance shocks, the system can adjust the suspension for varying circumstances and road conditions. The system is so advanced that Ram says it can even anticipate “midair conditions to adjust the shocks for a composed landing.”

Inside, owners will find a truck loaded with special design features and technology. You won’t forget that this thing is a TRX or an SRT vehicle as there are badges everywhere — aside from the big SRT and TRX badges on the exterior, there are badges on the dash, center armrest and stitched into the front seatbacks.

All of the tech you would expect in a truck like this is standard. There’s a 14.5-inch touchscreen running Uconnect 5 that’s capable of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, another 12.3-inch display for the driver that Ram says can display over 24 menus, a suite of driver safety aids, suede and leather seating, carbon-fiber trim and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, among other things.
