Affected vehicles include model-year 2024-26 Elantra Hybrids. The hybrid power control unit in these vehicles may overheat due to the unit’s software not providing sufficient cooling, increasing the risk of a fire.

To resolve the issue, dealers will update the HPCU for free. Hyundai will notify owners July 13, but those with further questions can call the automaker at 855-371-9460 (Hyundai’s number for this recall is 301), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
