What Car Shoppers Need to Know:
- The Kia Seltos SUV is completely redesigned for 2027.
- The 2027 Seltos is bigger outside and in than its predecessor.
- The base price increases $1,400 compared to the 2026 Seltos.
The 2027 Kia Seltos is completely redesigned. While still decidedly small, the new front-wheel-drive SUV is longer, wider, taller and rides on a longer wheelbase than the 2026 model. Bold new styling mimics the look of Kia’s three-row EV9 SUV, but in a smaller and vastly more affordable package. The 2027 Kia Seltos is expected to go on sale in the coming weeks.

Pricing
While the 2027 Seltos is more expensive than its predecessor, its price didn’t increase by as much as the little SUV’s upscale looks might suggest. The 2027 model starts $1,400 higher than the 2026 Seltos. Full pricing (including $1,495 destination charge) is below; all-wheel drive is an additional $1,700 on LX, S and EX trims.
- LX: $26,485
- S: $27,885
- EX: $29,885
- X-Line S: $30,485
- X-Line SX: $34,285
What’s Changed for 2027?
The new Seltos is about 2 inches longer and 1 inch wider than the outgoing vehicle, but more importantly, its wheelbase grows by 2.4 inches. That translates to almost a full inch more legroom in the backseat, where passengers also enjoy a half inch of additional headroom. Front-seat occupants get a similar boost in noggin space, although the available moonroof negates that and drops rear-seat headroom below the 2026 model’s figure.
Also inside, the Seltos adopts the look of Kia’s bigger (and pricier) SUVs, with standard twin 12.3-inch displays for the instrument panel and infotainment touchscreen. Upscale features like heated and ventilated front seats, a head-up display and a Harman Kardon sound system are available.
Fuel Economy
The Seltos’ engines carry over from 2026. Most trim levels are powered by a 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder good for 132 pounds-feet of torque and mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. FWD is standard, and AWD is available with this drivetrain. The 2.0-liter returns an EPA-estimated 28/33/30 mpg city/highway/combined with FWD and 26/30/28 mpg with AWD.
The range-topping X-Line SX gets a 190-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder making 195 pounds-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD; it’s rated at 24/30/26 mpg.
Standard and Optional Features
The 2027 Seltos includes an impressive list of standard safety features. They include forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane departure steering assist, lane-following assist, a driver attention monitor, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors.
In addition, the entry-level LX includes 16-inch alloy wheels, LED front lighting, and keyless entry and start. Inside are cloth seats (manually adjustable in front), air conditioning, the dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker audio system.
The S upgrades to 18-inch wheels and sports flush-mounted door handles that pop out when the vehicle is unlocked. Its safety suite adds blind zone steering assist and rear cross-traffic alert. The S also adds a power-adjustable driver’s seat and wireless phone charging.
Step up to the EX and you’ll get upscale features that include a hands-free power liftgate, LED taillights, synthetic leather upholstery and heated front seats. The EX also upgrades to dual-zone automatic climate control commanded by a 5-inch touchscreen display between the instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen.
Aiming for an adventurous off-road flair, the X-Line trims include standard AWD, an upgraded rear suspension, black lower-body trim, unique bumpers, and black wheels measuring 18 inches on the X-Line S and 19 inches on the X-Line SX. The X-Line S is otherwise identical to the standard S, while the SX gets all the features of the EX plus upgraded headlights, a panoramic moonroof and a heated steering wheel. A 360-degree camera system with blind spot cameras, side parking sensors and reverse automatic braking are optional on the X-Line SX.
Versus the Competition
Even with its price increase compared to 2026, the 2027 Seltos undercuts every competitive small SUV with either FWD or AWD. Kia will release pricing for the Seltos Hybrid later in the year; based on the brand’s other SUVs, we expect it will charge less than $2,000 to upgrade to the hybrid powertrain.
