Great truck
Never had a toyota before, we were surprised at the amount of pick up this truck had. Also it handles great, and is just fun to drive.

Dependable, best light truck
I bought the TRD sport brand new. Five years and 70,000 hard miles later I haven't had any major problems. The only thing that has broke is the compass/thermometer. Everyone I know that bought this truck planned on keeping it for a lifetime. For a small truck it is big on power, you are never disappointed when you hit the gas if you buy the V6. The only complaints I have are the gas mileage and the interior can be a little uncomfortable if you are a big guy (wide). The ride is pretty good for a truck, it definetly beats out everything in its class. It towed everything I needed it to and more. Do yourself a favor and don't get the model with the hoodscoop, it looks great but it hurts visibilty, cost alot more for the upgrade and it doesn't actually do anything. Buy this if you want a truck that feels more like a car but still can go off road with the best of them and hauls whatever you need. If you need to tow extremely heavy loads this probably isn't the truck for you.

Awesome compact truck
I've waited for 12 years to buy a Tacoma--saving money, waiting for the right deal/time. Finally found my little sweetie at the right price/mileage/package?and am delighted. It's the extended cab 4 cyl 5-spd manual--it does everything I need it to as a small farmer and rifle/archery buff. I get 26 mpg combined city/hwy, but then I've been driving Toyota 5-spds since my 1980 Tercel! In terms of creature comforts, these late Aughts Tacomas are better appointed at the lower end than the later model ones which seem to be getting cheesy for the money. Comfortable driving, and I am a short woman (5' 3"). Love the way it handles! When I go out on work bees on friends' land, this little Tacoma can haul ALL my stuff--power tools, chainsaws, accessories, tool boxes?just amazing. Plenty of power for what I do, and if I need a monster truck I borrow or rent one.

Love this truck.
I upgraded from a 92 Toyota Hilux. I love my new Tacoma and the power from the 4 liter is awesome. This will certainly pull my 6x10 trailer just fine. Great features inside and I love all the tie downs in the bed. Not much more I can say.

Solid truck
This is my second Tacoma, I like the versitility the most on this vehicle. Solid truck, could use a more horsepower tho. Handles very simular to the FJ Cruiser. The manual lumbar support on the drivers seat is a plus.

Tacoma
Had a Ford ranger and drove it for 19 years and this Tacoma was far more superior. Now I imagine you are saying 19 years with a Ford Ranger not bad. well after driving from the Mid West to the East coast the entire engine fell apart and I was one month away from having the entire bills drop in my lap out of warranty on the Ford. As Ford said during the rebuild it came down the assembly line on a very bad day. I was going to drive this Tacoma for a very long time but I developed arthritis in my hand and a bad hip after years of doing construction. When I sold it this truck had held a huge chunk of its value 5 years later...Not to mention I was able to haul a good load and carry a lot of cargo. Tons of Dirt, rock, lumber you name it. A friend purchased it who is building a log cabin and is very pleased! Only go with a foreign Truck. Forget the "heartland" products they are well under built and over priced compared to Japanese models... Case in point I purchased a loaded 370Z Nissan and this thing blows everything away fin this price point for luxury, power and amount of car for the dollar.

The best gas mileage iv'e had in a truck
Have 2.7l 4 cilinder stick. Smooth ride perfect small truck. Looked at all the others and drove many. No doubt I made the right decition. Great gas mileage. Fill up once a week and do from 400- 500 miles a week at the moment so the convenience of filling once is unbelievable. You will never regret this purchase just on gas alone it is paying for itself. Couldn't be happier.......Dennis

Toyota builds reliable Trucks
This is my 2nd Tacoma. If it lasts 222k miles like my 98, it will not surprise me. However Toyota needs to fix some common problems. The A/C fan blower overheats and stops working as does the overhead compass/temp guage. Both of these are minor things that many owners have to fix themselves and Toyota could fix by do a better job. The 4 dr. Tacoma is a bigger and heavier truck and has a v6 engine, so the gas mileage is poorer than by 4 cyl. The truck is very roomy, seats are comfortable, lot of storage space. Well designed. I did take it to a windshield repair shop to get the weatherstipping reglued as it appeared to be sloppy. The repair shop said they do a lot of Tacoma windshields as they are not sealed correct and cause a lot of wind noise on highways. This trcuk had 97K on it when I bought. I will be interested to see if it makes it past 200k.

Reliability, Capacity, and Great Looks
I needed a nice pickup to tow my boat and make runs to the home improvement store, and the Toyota Tacoma fit the bill. It is very reliable, looks great, and extremely capable. Fuel consumption could be better (16-20 mpg) but after all it is a truck, and the gas mileage is reasonable for a capable pickup. Plenty of room in the extended cab, as well as the full 6 ft bed. It is very sporty looking, and I always get comments. The 4.0 liter 6 cylinder engine and towing package can tow up to 6500 lbs properly equipped. I would not even consider a 4 cylinder engine, as it limited the usefulness, and the gas mileage will not improve by much. It is a 4X4 so winter driving should be a cinch, and summer driving on the beach is capable and fun. I looked at other pickups and none could compare to the Toyota Tacoma Access Cab. I am very happy with my truck.

Great truck at a great price
Love this truck! Just the right amount of extras without adding greatly to the price. The only thing that my truck did not have was cruise control.
