Best Overall Car I've Owned
I bought my '08 Prius, Package II, in March '08. Lifetime average has been 47MPG with over 18k miles/year and mostly highway mileage. It does tend to do 2-5 mpg less in winter. Have owned cars for over 21 years now and this stands out as best car ever for getting from A to B as well as errands. Amazing and misleading amount of storage space. Bought primarily for commuting and turned out being the primary car as well. Best: Excellent MPG, Storage space, technology extras such as the keyless entry. Cons: Needs an adjustable lumbar support and Toyota should supply an approved hitch for bicycle racks; understand it can't tow anything but owners have to go to other companys to buy a hitch to haul a bike - of course it also fits inside!

Not for a tall heavy driver
I am 6 1 and 300 pounds. Car is not comfortable for a guy of my size and weight. Seat is not adjustable vertically. It would help if Toyota considered doing a seat that goes down more. WOuld not recommend for a guy my size, otherwise car is excellent

Great Car/Greater Mileage
Following up my review on 1-12-09. My mileage has continued to climb. Put a K&N air filter in my Prius prior to my trip to Orange County. Best mileage before was a great 54.7 on my trip to Santa Monica. With K&N and now 21,000 miles broken in, I got an amazing 64.3 mpg. I averaged 70+ mph and of course had some stop and go. This is Southern Ca.. Not one problem with the car and love it more than ever. Use to make fun of it and anyone driving one. Not now!!!

Free to move about the country
With apologies to an unnamed airline for that title, I feel great about averaging an overall 47.1 miles per gallon. 75% of trips in this vehicle are less than 4 miles so being able to use so little fuel is great. We can visit my mother-in-law, a 400 mile round trip, on less than $17 worth of gas. So far, it has held everything we wanted to carry, including all the stuff we took when evacuating from the path of hurricane Ike. Best car I've ever owned.

We have two
We have always had higher end BMWs and do love them. We bought our first Prius for shorter town driving and have now purchased two and will be selling our high end cars. It drives "fun" and is very comfortable and much bigger inside, than ever expected. Everyone who gets in it says "wow, this car is big inside" and sometimes they get out and look at the outside again trying to figure it out. We range between 45-55mpg and love it.

Great car Great mileage
I had an ML 500 that got terrible mileage and I was tired of paying $800+ for each dealer service. I purchased the Prius on a whim and it was the best purchase of a vehicle I have ever made. I bought it new with the Pkg.6. The navigation, blue tooth, back up camera and sound system are excellent. I get 42mpg around town and got 54.7 the last two trips to Santa Monica. 15,000 mile service cost: $150.00 Ride is comfortable and quiet. My wife finally drove it and we are selling her BMW 530i and getting her one. I just took our Christmas tree back to storage. It is in a 7' long box. With the passangers seat pushed forward the box fit with the hatch closed. Hauling space is fantastic. Also, great leg room front and back. 2" more than the ML500. If your looking go ahead and buy.

Prius-good in snow
Studs and sand bags give My prius the ability to drive 80 miles daily in the Adirondack Mts. of NY. This addedd weight and grip make it easy to handle.

Great car!!!
I've had mine for one year this month and I love it. It's very reliable, the performance is surprisingly good and it's much more roomier inside than it appears from the outside, Toyota really got it right. I only drive about 8 miles each way to and from work, all hilly surface streets with lots of stops and on that route, I get about 40 MPG. The hills really kill the mileage (if you can call 40 MPG bad mileage). On longer freeway trips and level streets, it's no problem getting 45-55 MPG. I got mine right after the tax credits ended and before gas prices shot up so I was able to buy it right off the dealers lot for slightly under list price. I'm a very happy Prius owner.
