My first hybrid

This is my first hybrid. I was reluctant at first to have one because I was not familiar with it. Now that I have one, I would recommend a hybrid to anyone. I think it is the future of the automobile. The Prius is a great example of the mold for the future hybrids. Toyota seems to have the jump on other auto manufacturers . Tba fit and finish of the car is outstanding. The only suggestion I would give would have more colors and ways to personalize each car. Great car.

Know what your getting

The toyota prius is a car that is a car that is environmentally friendly and gets good gas mileage. It is pretty comfortable for a small looking car but has very good interior room. Your not going to set any speed records in it. The dash looks dated and the GPS is worthless. Other than that overall it's a pretty good car if you know what your looking for in a car.

One year later...

I've put 27k on my '08 Touring in the past year. I use it as a daily commuter, and our family of four took it on a 3500 mile trip through the Appalachians - enough power but a little tight on space when fully loaded for the trip. Overall, I made the best choice I could've made - it's been flawless mechanically, no nit-picky items have needed attention (i.e. excellent integrity, unlike my wife's Montana!), and mileage is over 47 in summer, 43 in winter. Handles well in the Upstate NY snow, costs about $40 to fill up, and it's good for over 450 miles per tank. The gas companies hate me! The savings in fuel costs alone more than pays for the monthly payment. Oh, did I mention it's a PZEV??? 'Cause it's not just about saving money. It's a very low level polluter to boot. And gunning it from a traffic light, while not earth-shattering, will surprise alot of other drivers, and you don't feel guilty doing it. The battery and continuously variable tranny work well with the little 4 cylinder. This car is an engineering marvel. The technology is proven. What are you waiting for? Take a trip, buy the kids some new cloths with the $$ you'll save - don't waste it in the gas tank.

no room in the inn

i am 4'11" and i hated the prius almost as soon as i got it ....... it was too small for anything .... too tight ..... even my medium size dog was obviously uncomfortable ...... i never figured out all the ins and outs like using the radio ...... driving was unsafe as i couldn't see out the window ..... even my 6'2" son hated the prius as he couldn't see either ...... my negative review is unfortunate because i drove toyotas until 1999 when i bought a subaru forester because i had moved to the country and the hills demanded awd .... even though the mileage was pretty darn good on my subaru i just had to buy a prius because the mileage was unbelievable ..... i was so sorry i asked dealers across the state to find me another subaru forester older than 2007 (it grew into a boat in 2007 so i had to settle for an older model and i didn't care about the age/mileage ..... i now own a 1999 subaru forester ... 132,000 miles ...... and i love it

Saving the environment one hydrocarbon at at time

I'm impressed with the engineering of this car, and fascinated with the screens that shows your MPG in 10 minute intervals, what the engine's doing and other cool stuff. There's very little wind resistance. You can easily coast from a good distance to stop signs, turns and parking spaces. And it amazingly has enough kick to easily accelerate onto highways, or change lanes. There's a lot of room with the back seats folded down to load large articles, furniture, gear and luggage. The final test will be how it handles this winter when it's zero degrees out or snowing. I'm hoping that my remote start and an aggressive set of all season tires will suffice. It's a great car for those of us concerned with air pollution and our dependence on foreign oil. I consistently get 50 MPG, and only fill up once a month.

Great Car!

My wife and I decided we wanted a Prius after good reviews from family members, other associates and internet searches. We had a budget so a new one was out of the question. We had the luxury of waiting for the right deal on an '08 - '10 with the potions we wanted. This is my wife's daily driver and she easily gets 50mpg with it. We also took it on a long trip and the worst we did was 44mpg! The car feels solid and performs well. It's a small car but has room for my family of 5. I was almost willing to put my money down on a Chevy Volt but it only seats 4. The navigation system is great although not perfect as it has gotten us lost. I should inquire about getting a map update. The ride is acceptable for a small car. I wouldn't expect anything better. It's an easy driver and my 16yr old children have an easy time with it because it is small and easy to judge. Overall it's a great car and and I'm glad we bought it. I would like one for myself some day!

Easy Deal

I knew that I wanted a Prius. I also knew I wanted a used one, as the Japanese Tsunami had just hit, and the new Priuses were priced out of my reach. I found just the car I wanted online, called to see if it was still available, drove to see it and purchased it right there. It was the easiest car purchase I have made. Cars.com brought all the information I needed right to my computer, and I did most of the leg work from home.

great little car

We love it! Milage is good. Zooms in and out of the city and the country too. I would encourage all to give it a try. As of this day, no problems what so ever.

Good MPG and fine for commuting

This car gets better MPG than anything I've driven, yet performance is totally reasonable for a small no-frills sedan. It's not flashy, doesn't have the best creature comforts, and won't blow your doors off in the performance and handling department, but that isn't what this car is all about. Nor is it a great bang-for-buck option. Really, I only have a couple of complaints: When the headlights are on on the daytime, the dashboard can be really hard to read, especially if it's bright out and you are wearing sunglasses. I also find the seat to be very uncomfortable, particular on the backs of my legs, on any drive more than 4 hours.
