Toyota Fj Cruiser, the best rugged SUV for the $
I've owned an FJ 2wd version, and now a 4wd.. this is by far the best most rugged SUV for the $ and In my opinion the best design Toyota has ever made. I love the dashboard, the exterior styling, the seats , suicide doors, the sound of the engine, and the way that it can take on anything you throw at it. I loved my first Fj so much I just sold my Honda recently and purchased another Fj. I plan on keeping it till the wheels fall off. These cars have the highest residual resale of any car on the market . Even higher mileage Fj crusiers are commanding big $. If your looking for an alternative to a boxy Jeep Wrangler test drive an Fj cruiser first then go drive the Jeep. I promise you'll want the FJ . There were only 220,000 Fj crusiers produced for the Us market in the entire run from 07 to 2014 before they were sadly discontinued. also look up on YouTube. Fj crusiers pulling Jeeps out of the mud. People it's a no brainer! Toyota got this one right!

Built like a tank..... rock solid truck
I think I might keep this truck forever.... seems like it will last that long ;) ........ I'm so excited to own this truck...... Toyota really stepped up to the plate on this baby........ turns heads everywhere I go . built to last rock solid . one of the best values on the used car market .... so comfortable it's crazy.... I love this truck.... handles like a dream.... great gas mileage for the size.... the wheels look great.... I like the white roof..... the doors are very stylish..... on of the best Toyota trucks ever made..... don't you want to own one ? This was one of the best choices I ever made in my life....... my kids love it.... my girl wants to drive it.... and my boss hates it that I have one and he doesn't..... you could be the envy of the whole office in this off-road beast..... whenever you drive by a car lot they park these trucks out front for everyone to see...... the resale on these are incredible..... they might even go up in value since they stop making the in 2013......get one while you can :)

Discontinued for good reason
I fail to see the hype. Owned one for some time now, and it's just miserable. The seats are uncomfortable, the interior is poorly laid out, hard to clean and stains easily (ridiculous for a supposedly off road vehicle). On the topic of off-road- this thing is all show no go. Fine for the occasional fire road or gravel road, too long and too wide for anything else. The roof rack is fake, oblong, and useless. The paint scratches very easily, and the seats don't fold flat. This car handles like a tug boat, has extremely limited visibility, and insanely touchy brakes. On snow or ice it can't seem to decide how to use all its power, and on rocks it's let down by the suspension being too low travel. There are terrible design choices all over, like the lack of center console, the driver (but not passenger) map box, the body protruding into the wheelwell, the super slippery and easily scratched cargo area lining, the hopeless transmission, the awful traction control system, the passenger knee bangers, the terrible airflow inside the car, the seatbelts constantly getting stuck under the half doors, the messed up suspension design... I could go on all day. Upsides - Toyota gave it a decent engine. Plenty of power to move around. The stereo is nice, and the proper low range gear box is it's only real cred. It's been ok for reliability. Not as good as other trucks or cars I've owned. Give it a miss. If my insurance totalled it, I wouldn't get another one. There's a good reason they stopped making these.

Hino or Toyota it is still a good vehicle
Bad:Gas Mileage, small inside, bouncy on road, vibrates anything touching the 4wd shifter, windshield always gets cracked. Good: 4wd, towing ok, value, reliability, resale value, fun factor

2007 FJ
Wow, I was thinking to sell my FJ and get a Prius. After all the bad reviews on the Prius including; cars not starting, enterior parts breaking, unhappy statements, cheaply made car.... I believe I will end up keeping my FJ. Curious to see other consumer reviews about the FJ- all being happy drivers and nothing bad to say is awesome!!! I bought this car used 80k and its been awesome ever since. I keep it well maintained. Its@ 94,000 miles now. Iv replaced battery, timing belt, spark plugs, alternater. Normal wear and tear for this milage. This is a VERY durable car, goood value.

great vehicle on the road or OFF ROAD
I have owned 8 cars and this is the most versatile vehicle I have ever had. From towing to off road back to driving on the wet pavement. The fj is a great buy and reliable of course, it's a Toyota!

Reliving my high school days!
I bought a 2007 FJ with 50K miles and it is the best car choice I have made in years. I had a 1970 FJ40 when I was in high school. I did lots of 4 wheeling in that cruiser - friends with Jeeps an Broncos were always skeptical of it until they saw it off-roading where it typically out performed the others. When Toyota came back with this model as a tribute to the FJ I just had to have one. For those of us who "know" Toyota designers have incorporated design elements from the original FJ that are very subtle but clever and effective. This vehicle is so much fun to drive. It is solid and comfortable. Off road performance is second to none. Thanks Toyota for the opportunity to relive my youth while at the same time having a reliable and safe vehicle to transport my family in!!
