This car was a great value

I purchased this car from a used dealership for $7800. This is my very first car (im 19 years old) I decided I HAD to have one of these when I test drove an 05 at a different dealership. This car drives beautifully and has a lot of pep in traffic, but is powerful enough to keep up with traffic on the freeway. Im amazed at how powerful this 4 cylinder engine is The sound system in itself is also amazing, considering it is standard and often louder then some custom systems The seats of the car are extremely comfortable and contour to your back and are very soft. Also the air blows icy cold (which is good down here in Florida) The materials the interior is made of (mainly the plastics) seem very brittle, cheap, and inferior but are satisfactory. My car is burning a lot of oil for some reason (80% sure its a leak) and that catalytic converter may also be bad but the car itself drives like its brand new and turns a lot of girls heads when I drive by. Hopefully I can get rid of the silver color and paint it either burgundy or navy blue, but until then Im glad I paid $7800 for a car thats worth $11,000. I highly recommend any Nissan Altima made 2002 or later, you wont regret it. But try purchasing the 3.5 SE or SE-R those engines seem to be a better build then my 2.5 S. Still very happy though

Great Peppy Reliable car!

I bought this car brand new in 2003 and it has not broken down or had any severe mechanical problems as long as i owned it. There are a few technical kinks that still need to be worked out, but overall it is a great car.

Junk and service from consumer affairs is worse

This is a long story but to shorten it let me say I loved this car for the first 90-100k miles. You know I expect minor problems and of course had some of those and had them fixed, but then I find out there is a nut inside the 4cyl engine that nissan knows has a history of comming loose therefore ruining the engine. I figured well I guess the problem was addressed and paid for another engine. (In hind sight I should have stopped here, they know about the problem admit the problem yet no recall and the made me pay for the new engine). Anyway on with the story, less than 1 year later on the way home I get the "check engine" light, look down at my dash realize the engine is getting hot and pull off the road to a gas station. The car cooled down while waiting for a wrecker and started right up to move for easier loading, in fact the car was started the following day by service manager. At first I was told I needed a new radiator and agreed to that, then before I ever got the car back, I was told that the engine (still less than a yr old) needed to be replaced and that it is no longer under warranty. After numerous calls to consumer affairs still nothing and it has been about 1 month.

Stay away!!!!

Bought my new 2003 Nissan Altima 3.5SE in late 2002. I thought it was the best car I've ever bought. Until I found out about all recalls. The car started to go down hill after about 70k. Catalytic converter failed at 80k due to engine problems. Then finally the engine blew at 134k. NO HELP FROM NISSAN!!!!!!!!

Junk!

I bought this car brand new and have been sorry ever since. Multiple recalls (6 to be exact) than once it hit 90K it all fell apart. Catalytic converter failed caused engine damage and exhaust system completly failed, the only thing worse was the lack of support from Nissan who is completely aware of this problem on the 2002 and 2003 Altima's. Luckly I only dropped $1,000 into it and was able to walk away with a decent trade in value towards a Camry. Honestly, don't waste your money. This is the second Altima that gave me 90,000 / 5 years, the major components of a car these days should last longer.

Not so great

This car has no resell value, and I do not enjoy driving it. There are several other cars you can purchase for less money, that are much more reliable, get better gas mileage, and are more fun to drive. Plus, the body style of this car leaves much to be desired.

DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY

If you but this vehicle, I promise you it is a waste of your money. I bought the car used in 2003 and I have replaced the alternator twice. Most recently the car died without and warning leaving me stranded on the road. Contacted both the Dealer and Nissan Consumer Affairs and could not reassure me that the problem would not occur. again. Imagine being on the road and the entire electrical system fails. Well that is what you have to look forward to if you but this vehicle. DON"T spend your money on a NISSAN Altima.

Tons of room for Tons of cargo

I was looking for a Saturn but I was fortunate enough to find out it was sold before I was ready to purchase a vehicle. I love the handling and room in my 2003 Altima especially when going on a long drive with 4 of us in the car. Kids are able to bring a game and play in comfort. The exterior has a perfect design. The interior is not the best but it is adaptable. I have purchased this car that already had peace of mind warrenty purchased for it. Expecting to have peace of mind, atleast right away. within the first week it has cost me a small fortune to have that warrenty transfered to my name, due to the fact that the car was not purchased from a Nissan dealer. Overall, get one. It is worth it
