Lexus LS 500 F Sport 2025 exterior oem 01 jpg

When people turn 30 years old, the realization that their 20s are behind them can hit hard, and at 40, you’re over the hill. But 35? Well, it’s a lot like 34. It’s the same for the LS, the sedan that launched the Lexus brand 35 years ago and is unchanged for the 2025 model year. But earnings tend to increase with age, and the 2025 Lexus LS is $1,000 more expensive than the 2024 model, with a base price of $81,685 (all prices include $1,350 destination).

Powertrain Specs and MPG

Two engines are available in the 2025 LS. The LS 500 packs a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 putting out 416 horsepower and 442 pounds-feet of torque. It’s backed by a 10-speed automatic transmission and is available with rear- or all-wheel drive. Lexus says the LS 500 returns the same EPA-estimated 18/29/22 mpg city/highway/combined with rear-drive and 17/27/21 mpg with AWD as the 2024 model (official EPA ratings for 2025 are not yet available).

The LS 500h has a slightly larger and normally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6, and a pair of electric motors contribute to a total system output of 354 hp. With a continuously variable automatic transmission and standard AWD, Lexus says the LS 500h is rated at 23/31/26 mpg. The acceleration penalty with the hybrid’s lower output is minimal: Lexus claims the twin-turbo LS 500 can hit 60 mph from a standstill in 4.6 seconds with RWD or AWD, whereas the hybrid needs 5.2 seconds.

High-Tech Drivetrain, More Safety Tech

Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on the LS 500h and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane-centering steering, road-sign recognition and automatic high beams. Front cross-traffic alert and lane change assist are also standard. The hybrid LS also gets Lexus Teammate, which enables semi-autonomous hands-free highway driving and autonomous parking.

The non-hybrid LS 500 includes Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which also features emergency steering assist, oncoming-vehicle detection for left turns and Proactive Driving Assist. Like Teammate, Proactive Driving Assist can help maintain vehicle speed and provide steering assistance on the highway, but it is not designed for hands-free operation.
