2012 and already in for major work

We paid $45,000 for this vehicle in 2012, and already it needed major repair work totaling over $2,50O. We were on the road and all of a sudden (without warrning), the radio went out. Then the air conditioning stopped. Then the car started to fail and cruised to a complete stop. Luckily, we were not on the back roads but were able to pull over to a safe spot, but we had just come from the back roads and were heading home. We had to have the Jeep Grand Cherokee towed in. It turned out to be the altinator which blew out the battery. We also needed front-end brakes and had the back brakes done a few months ago. The repairs for this incident totaled over $2,500. We really feel that since this vehicle is less than 5 years old, we should have had to make major repairs like this to our car and it was a huge expense to us when we didn't need/want any major expenses. Our landscaper told us that he turned in his Jeep Grand Cherokee, too, for major repairs under the hood and he was not going to take any more chances on a vehicle designed so poorly and switched from Jeep for his next vehicle. We feel the same way. For the money we spent, we feel ripped off. Our Jeep only has 69,000 miles on it and of course we were told the repair work is not under warranty.

most versitale vehicle

I love my Grand Cherokee! It is the most versatile car I have owned. Great for the family, on road, off road, commuting, and plenty of power and space to tow, haul and carry whatever you need to.

It's a Jeep, not a Honda civic.

Really liked the power & towing capacity thanks tot he 5.7L Hemi and because this motor didn't have to work hard I could get up to 23mpg on the highway if I took it easy on the pedal. More luxury than I needed and adaptive cruise control is a silly add-on (I didn't pay for it!). I had the Overland Summit which also had the adjustable height suspension which is a great feature (also have on my '14 Ram) especially when tooling off road. Infotainment was good as is the 7" backup camera screen. Problem with most Jeeps is they are hard to keep for too long and failures start to come quickly - still intend to buy another in the future!

Solid Vehicle

If you are looking for a solid mid-size SUV, this vehicle fits exactly that. I used to have a 2015 Patriot until it was totaled. Compared to the Patriot, this vehicle has a lot more power, stability, and overall higher class feel, even though it is 3 years old than my Patriot. Check out other reviews online and buy based off those.

The practical SUV

I own a 2012 Grand Cherokee 3.6 - aside from recalls such as fuel pump relay, headliner wiring, and my rear shocks having some issues the vehicle has been solid. Currently at the 47k mark I plan on keeping the vehicle long term. 2011-2013 early "WK2" chassis Grands can be had relatively 'cheap'now which was pre-8 speed transmission in 2014 which were known to be problematic (at least in the early builds) but for me the 3.6 with the 6 speed trans was the winning combination. Decent gas mileage paired with decent performance @ 300 hp and nearly 300 ft/lbs of torque

Ready for anything!

This car meets all of my needs. I drive it daily around town and it is ready to hook up a camper and go whenever I am. It has decent gas mileage. My Jeep has comfortable seats and a great sound system. I did not expect the reclining, heated rear seats! I feel like I am in a luxury ride at all times. Plenty of storage and a real spare tire. Love my Jeep!
