A Disappointing Decline at Geneva Foreign & Sports What was once a respected, family-owned dealership has unfortunately devolved into a chaotic and unprofessional operation. My recent experience was deeply frustrating and revealed a troubling shift in culture and customer care. From the start, I encountered a lack of professionalism. The three sales reps I dealt with were clearly inexperienced — they struggled to answer basic questions about the vehicles and frequently gave contradictory or misleading information, clearly pushing hard to get cars off the lot rather than prioritizing transparency or client trust. The owner, Dan Z, displayed an alarming level of arrogance and defensiveness when concerns were raised. Rather than addressing valid issues or standing behind the dealership’s name, he deflected, dismissed, and avoided accountability. It felt less like a business serving customers, and more like a personal ego project with no real leadership. The vehicles themselves were shockingly underprepared. The car I looked at was dirty — both inside and out — and it was handed over without even a full tank of gas. That may sound minor, but it reflects a broader problem: cutting corners, minimizing effort, and delivering as little as possible. It gave the impression that the dealership is struggling financially, doing just enough to get by without investing in the quality or experience that customers deserve. This is not the Geneva Foreign & Sports people used to trust. It’s a shadow of its former self, with poor management, untrained staff, and a total disregard for customer satisfaction. If you’re thinking of buying a vehicle here, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This dealership is no longer what it once was.

Always kind, knowledgeable, considerate, professional and quick!! I have always had wonderful experiences with all my car needs! I don’t understand why anyone in Finger Lakes region wouldn’t take their vehicles there!!

Kelly treated me with kindness and respect while helping me get into my new Mercedes. The process couldn’t have been easier.

Michael, the salesman lied to us about their being no accidents on the car. When we went to trade it in it turned out there were four prior accidents they failed to disclose. We never would have purchased a used car with four accidents. It cut out trade in value by half, costing us thousands for a car we already paid too much for with it's accident history. When I spoke to Ashley the office manager she told me they didn't need to tell us that information (even though we asked the salesman and he lied) and it was our fault for not specifically asking for a carfax report. She also said it was a "he said she said situation" about the salesman Michael lying to us. They deal in shady business practices. Stay away and go somewhere more reputable. Believe the honest bad reviews. Save yourself the trouble and money. By the way NYS has disclosure requirements, they are legally obligated to present this information and lying about it is fraud

I inquired about a car and they said it wasn't ready to be shown yet. They said they would contact me when it was ready which they did. I was making plans to make the 4 hour trip to see it, and hour later they sold it out from underneath me. Disappointed. Everything was good communication until it wasn't. Disappointed. Don't think I will look at their cars again.

We travelled 5 hours to buy a used car sight unseen. Kelly P from sales was very helpful with getting us all the information we needed. The entire team made the buying process as smooth as possible. They were completely transparent with condition of the vehicle. The vehicle had an unexpected issue right before we travelled to get it and the service team was able to rectify the issue before we got there to make the deal possible. Dan even took us for a tour around the entire facility. They perform all work in house and the quality shows! No outsourcing to different vendors with unknown quality. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another vehicle from the team at Geneva Foreign

Judging by the responses to the previous negative reviews, I am sure I will get a snarky one here. You can always tell how an establishment will treat you based on their responses to poor reviews. I purchased a vehicle with 70,000 miles on it a year ago from Geneva Foreign and Sport. At first I thought I was getting a great deal and Dan Z really did help me with getting the financing I needed since my credit isn't great. Well, I found out why I got a good deal. I immediately had to put over $1500 in for wheel barrings. Now I have a bad rear differential according to my regular mechanic. I went back to GFS to have them look at it and hopefully get some help since I have only owned the car a year. They told me I need FRONT AND REAR differential and some other work and wanted to charge me $5000. I was completely flabbergasted! The service guy, Mike, told me it was just my luck when I contested and complained about the fact that I've only had the car a year. They offered to take 15% off the charges or give me $3000 for the car as trade in and sell me a more expensive veicle (Dan Z's in sales words).! I felt so taken advatage of and pushed away. I then purchased the Carfax (should have done before buying the car) and found that the car had been in 3 accidents by the previous owner! I made a compromise at that point and said I'd purchase a different vehicle from them but would need $4000 for the current car (since I still owe twice that) and a clean carfax on the new one. Dan would not accommodate. When I asked if it was because they didn't have any cars with clean carfax, he never responded to my email. Took the car back to my regular mechanic and they said I don't even need the front differential or some of the other work that Geneva Foreign said I needed. So to add insult to injury, they tried to take me for more money with unnecessary repairs. If you are thinking of purchasing a vehicle here, ask for a carfax and be prepared to put a lot of money into the car. Most bigger dealerships have the carfax info available through their website. GFS does not. I've owned a lot of different vehicles over the last 25 years and this by far the worst experience.
