DO NOT BUY A CAR OR SERVICE YOUR VEHICLE AT TOM’S

DO NOT BUY A CAR OR SERVICE YOUR VEHICLE AT TOM’S VOLKSWAGEN IN UNION, NJ. I purchased my 2024 Atlas Cross Sport from this dealership, and honestly, I should have walked out the day we started having issues with the Finance Manager during the purchase process. Unfortunately, things have only gotten worse since then. From the beginning, I’ve experienced ongoing problems with both the vehicle and the dealership’s service department. Most recently, my windshield wipers began turning on sporadically. After researching the issue, I discovered this is a known problem with this model year Cross Sport. When I brought it in, instead of acknowledging the issue, they made me feel like I didn’t know what I was talking about and brushed it off by saying, “They’re automatic wipers, miss.” In addition, my infotainment system frequently goes dark. I was told it would cost over $1,000 to repair. On top of that, they charged me $117 for a diagnostic fee without clearly informing me beforehand. After leaving the dealership, I immediately realized that none of the buttons on my infotainment system were working—Apple CarPlay, the power button, volume control, everything was completely unresponsive. When I called to report this, I was told, “The manager will call you back.” As usual, no one ever did. In the two years I’ve been dealing with this dealership, they have never once returned my calls. I waited two hours for someone to follow up—no response. I’ve also been left on hold for 10 minutes at a time, repeatedly. I was told the service manager was unavailable and could not speak with me. The customer service here is absolutely unacceptable. Save yourself the stress and frustration. I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to say a few words about Christian. Over the years, I’ve had more than my fair share of calls with sales professionals—some good, some not so much. But every now and then, someone stands out in a way that’s worth acknowledging. Christian is one of those people. From the beginning of our conversation, there was a calm confidence to the way he spoke. He wasn’t pushy, didn’t rely on tired sales tactics, and most importantly, he listened. It sounds simple, but it’s surprisingly rare. He asked thoughtful questions, understood my needs quickly, and communicated clearly without overselling. What I appreciated most was his professionalism. It was genuine—not rehearsed or forced. Just someone who clearly takes pride in doing his job well. I’ve been fortunate to work with many talented people throughout my career, and I can honestly say Christian is up there with the best of them. He’s the kind of person you hope to come across in business—sharp, respectful, and easy to trust. A true asset to any team. Signed, A man who once closed a deal during a power outage, using a landline and a bottle of scotch— and even then, I wasn’t as impressed as I was with Christian.

Dirty tactics.

Dirty tactics. Called early morning to confirm car 2021 Jetta on website was still at dealership since we had 1.5 hour drive to get there. Spoke with Yassin who confirmed it was there. We show up that afternoon and start looking at car for about 20 minutes and no one comes to greet us. Finally I call to have someone come out. It was Yassin that came out and asked if we want to test drive. He then asked for us to come inside and told him let's look inside car and drive then we will see if car is right. He goes in to get keys and 10 minutes later comes out and said someone put deposit on car daybefore but he was off and did not know. Conveniently though he tried to steer us into other options. Said no thanks and left. Then on way home get a call from someone else asking if we were still interested in that car. Told him it's not for sale acordingb to Yassin and he knew nothing about it. Said he would check and get back to us. Never did. The car is still listed on the website for sale. Beware of bait vehicles and pricing for bait and switch tactics.

Cristian and Shemar helped us tremendously while figuring

Cristian and Shemar helped us tremendously while figuring out which VW to bring home as our new car! The first person that greeted us almost immediately was Cristian. He made us feel incredibly comfortable and worked so fast to get us cars to test drive. There was absolutely no pressure with him and we didn’t feel like we were with someone that “just wanted to sell us something.”He would constantly check on us and see if we were okay and needed anything as he would bring out different models for us to test out. Cristian stayed after closing to make sure that we were all set up, gave us his contact info so that we can still ask questions even after we left the lot. If you walk into this dealership, please look for him! Shemar also worked tirelessly with such kindness and laughter throughout the process. He and Christian were a great team and helped us get the most affordable deal in our price range. Though we wanted a certain model, Shemar suggested we look at another and that was the exact one that we ended up driving home the same day. Even while we were deciding, Shemar allowed us to take it off the lot for a few hours. We went back and forth a little, but by the end, we came to a priced that worked out best for our family. We are so grateful for their kindness, hard work, and dedication to making us feel heard and seen throughout the day.

After buying a car from this VW of Union, it took 18

After buying a car from this VW of Union, it took 18 weeks for me to untangle the mistakes made by the dealership. Every aspect of this process was done incorrectly - sales, financing, registration, warrantee, mechanics. (I am not exaggerating…literally every one of these items was done wrong.) It was so bad that I briefly thought there was something illegal happening. It started when I agreed to buy a car with 37K miles, only for them to CHANGE THE WEBSITE (yes they actually changed the milage online) to 87K miles and blamed me, “You must be confused.” (The car had 37K after all.) That was the first of many messages I received as I encountered multiple problems. Each response from the dealership was that I was not understanding correctly or that I was being impatient and the problem will be automatically fixed. None of these issues would be resolved if I had not managed the situation. The only motivation they had to correct the issues was to “respond to him and he can leave us alone,” someone wrote to their colleague, with me in cc. This is the level of service and attitude that one can expect from this dealership. There are certainly other places to buy a car where a buyer does not have to manage every aspect of the process. It was like having a job! Good luck!

I went here today to buy a car for my brother and I never

I went here today to buy a car for my brother and I never felt at ease getting a car. The people were so nice and answered all my questions and were so responsive especially when I called after and had so many questions. The process was quick and I’m glad I didn’t have to go to other places to look around. My sales people Moe and MJ did all the paperwork for me and even walked me around the service center to show me where I can bring my car for anything in the future.

GREEDY, GREEDY, GREEDY SALES TEAM I went to VW of Union

GREEDY, GREEDY, GREEDY SALES TEAM I went to VW of Union to buy a 2023 GTI. The MSRP is $35,000 and my trade-in value was $7,600 - $9,400 (per Edmunds link provided on the VW website). The offer they gave me was to pay $36,000, including my trade-in! They essentially wanted me to pay $1,000 over MSRP AND give them my trade-in for free! I don’t know if they treated me like this because I am a woman, or if they treat all their customers with contempt. I refused to do business with them and asked for my car keys back at least five times but they kept ignoring my request, keeping me trapped in the office. I finally had to loudly demand my car keys back so that I could get out of there. I have never seen such audacity and contempt from a car dealer. I will take my money elsewhere.
