The people are here are bullies. The decline issues with vehicles and tell you that an issue isn’t an issues when it clearly is. If they were the ones that would be driving it they would not be okay with it either. Service department is a joke. Sales managers run around lost with no order. Carmax is a great business. This carmax is tan terribly.

Sold me a car with no SPARE TIRE. Also drilled the front plate into my vehicle without notifing me? Previous viewing of the vehicle had no front plate. Highly disappointed...

My family scheduled a test drive/trade appraisal this afternoon. As a backstory, CarMax would be the 5th dealer we visited. We’ve been looking to downgrade vehicles to save a few dollars each month. The reservation process was easy to use and communication up to the visit was great. We were swapped between a few sales personnel leading up to it and again when we arrived (no big deal to us personally). All the staff members were nice throughout the process. We test drive the vehicle and while doing so determined that it wasn’t the right vehicle for us, but we’re open to other options on the lot. When we arrived back at the dealer we told our salesman that we had concerns with the vehicle but we’re open to others, however reaching a deal was dependent on the trade offer. The CarMax offer was a shot below the belt. Out of the 4 other dealers we visited, the CarMax offer was $1,500 LESS than the LOWEST offer from the other dealers. Additionally it was lower than any trade range given through KBB, NADA, and Edmunds. I think they gauge their offer factoring in the car you’re looking at, so the offer was more than the car we reserved. But the offer wasn’t even close to fair based on the value of the car. I can’t imagine that’s normal CarMax behavior, regardless it’s enough to deter me from ever considering CarMax a viable option. My summary: if you’re buying a car that doesn’t factor in a trade this is a great buying experience. However if you’re working in a trade don’t waste your time here.
