I had a very disappointing experience with Volkswagen of West Islip. I brought my vehicle in for a blower motor resistor check, oil change, inspection, and to discuss a goodwill labor adjustment. My car was kept for 2 days with no loaner provided, which forced me to spend $40 on a Lyft just to get home. After already spending nearly $9,000 in repairs at this dealership, I was repeatedly assured that my car should not have any further issues. However, just two weeks later, my vehicle started making noise from the passenger side — something that was never properly addressed. To make matters worse: • The oil change and inspection I requested were never completed • I was told by the service advisor that I would need to deal with someone else because he was “done with me” • I was then told my transmission is slipping and quoted over $13,000 for a replacement At this point, I feel completely misled and taken advantage of. After spending thousands of dollars, I expected transparency, professionalism, and proper diagnosis — not incomplete work and dismissive treatment. I do have documentation of the services, pricing, and communication, and I strongly recommend others get a second opinion before committing to major repairs here.

WSent to look at a used Pickup with a nice online price. They had a surprising 2500 reconditioning fee so the deal was right around the Kelly blue book price of 22000. I had a trade in which they low balled me (Kelly Blue book value of 11500 and they offered me 6500). I said no and then they said it was in an accident and needs new tires. The tires are fine and yes accoring to carfax it was in an accident with with no reported damage. Meanwhile the pickup I was looking at was in a moderate accident with a lot of damage (again according to carfax). The sales manager was not trustworthy and instead of lowballing them an offer for the pickup I walked out. Be wary when you go there.

This dealership is full of scams and selling used cars with electric issues Tell you they don’t have anyone available to help and it’s not their concern nor do they offer assistance towing a car purchased less than 1 1/2 weeks old when it breaks down and blocking traffics for over 4 hours in freezing temperatures!!! Also ask for a deposit and that you take car with a deposit because they are paying rent to keep cars on their lots!!!! Please protect yourself and your families and DO NOT give any business to this dealership!!!!

John L was amazing to work with and although the process was a little long he really made us feel comfortable and cared for. We would highly recommend John L. to all of our friends for the near future ! And anyone buying a car for the first time , he really makes it that easy. It was a pleasure having him as our salesman!

From beginning to end my experience with Volkswagen of West Islip, sunrise imports was terrible. Let me just start by saying, I was looking for a very specific car across the entire country and unfortunately, this was the only group that had the exact car that I wanted. From the general manager, Vito never calling me back, never following up on anything, to the sales people lying, and telling you that even if I was to walk in and pay cash, I would have to go through their financing. You see it over and over on the reviews where they try to tell customers that the only way they can sell you a car is if you use their financing. That obviously isn’t the truth, in the packet as you’re signing everything you have to sign off on a form saying that your own financing was available. At this point, my credit was already ran, and everything was already done, so I didn’t want to go through the hassle of using my own financing, instead I just refinanced everything as soon as I got the car, making sure that the dealer never got any credit for using their Ponzi scheme bank Another issue I had was I bought this car out of state and had a company do a full inspection. Upon inspecting it, they never noticed the passenger fender was damaged, and after I received the car and transport, the transport company confirmed the front fender piece was damaged upon pick up, and the car dealer cannot prove in any pictures that it was already damaged when they had it. The company that I hired to do the inspection told me that if they missed it, they would claim it under their insurance, so I reached out to Volkswagen of West Islip 15 times just to get the original pictures so I can prove to the car inspection company that the damage was already there and they just happened to miss it so they can pay for it with their insurance. The fact that nobody at Volkswagen of West Islip would even respond to me, makes me feel that this damage happened between the time that I bought it, and when the truck picked it up and Volkswagen of West Islip should have their insurance pay for it. They never disclosed there was only one key, this is a total cost of about $1000 to order a new one and have it programmed. I know when the person traded the car into them they knocked them down on the price because it was missing a key fob, and they hid the fact from me that it didn’t have the extra key fob. It only came with one whenever car comes with two. So between the damage on the car fender, being absolute liars about using their financing, and missing the key fob, I don’t see any other way to resolve anything with horrible dealers like this other than a civil lawsuit

Dealer response

Thank you for your feedback. We will use the information you provided to continue to train and get better. We understand your frustration and this is why we suggested you come to the dealership and not have the car shipped. It is unfortunate that you decided to pay directly for transportation using a open trailer. Our dealer does not handle shipping for any client at any time for this reason and when shipping a vehicle anywhere in or out of state that's something you have to deal the shipping company directly. Again we are sorry your vehicle was damaged during transport and maybe they lost the second key as well. We suggest you reach out to your shipping company and request the shipping proof of damages from when the vehicle was picked up compared to when it was delivered to you. Best of luck in your future purchases j.levine82

Consumer response

Vehicle was not damaged in transport, as stated above, at some point between purchasing the vehicle and when it was picked up by transport, the damage was done. Most likely on your lot Not shocked, you guys can’t even read the reviews

So happy with my new Truck, My sales rep Evan Roth took the car buying experience to the next level and has raised the bar for all other salesman. Can confidently say this is the only place to buy a car with full transparency!
