Unethical Salesmen

I found a 2013 Lexus RX 350, Satin Cashmere Metallic, 97,676 miles online located at Car Smart of Memphis TN. I went by the dealer lot on October 8th 2021 spoke with Mr. Del. The vehicle was from Florida and exterior appearance was exceptionally clean. I Text drove the SUV, and had (3) questions issues that I clearly mentioned to Mr. Del. • The steering column made a noise when driven over uneven surfaces, and simply to rock back and forth the steering wheel. • The Rear Hatch wouldn't close using the Hatch power button. He said it was the Hatch shocks $80. • The hood wouldn't stay up, he said the hood shocks was the problem $40. The noise coming from the steering column was my main concern. I'd never experience anything like that. Especially, on a luxury automobile like Lexus (repairs $$$). Mr. Del, stated he would replace the hood and Hatch shocks and the "Awful Rattle" sound in the steering column was fixable. I asked if he was sure, because I was very interested in the SUV, even asked what the out the door total would be? And mentioned once again, one can't ignore the potential Lexus repairs $$$. Told him I'd swing by the following morning and look at the vehicle again. He said, are you sure you're coming? I confirmed I'd be there, and we shook hands. The following morning, October 9th at 10:24am, my girlfriend and I was on the lot. She wanted to drive the vehicle, after all it would have e purchased for her. While she was driving, seems like the noise was even more profound. I got on Utube, and started researching the problem. The results were "The Electric Steering Column". A $1,500 to $2,000 parts and labor repair job! Who would make a purchase after finding that out? I call a friend, a master Mechanic at wolf Chase Toyota. Soon as I described the sound and location of it, he knew exactly what I was talking about. Said the Toyota Highlander (Toyota version of Lexus RX - vehicles identical under the hood) has experienced the same issue. Well that was Confirmation to drop that vehicle from the list! After the test drive, we spoke with Mr. Del, handed him the key and stated looking over the lot for something else. It was perhaps 15 minutes later, he approached me and said, what we going to do? I said sir, it's a no go on that vehicle. *He got Nasty, Angry and Very Disrespect! Saying he was a man of his word and I wasn't. We shook hands, confirming I would buy the vehicle. I guess regardless to my findings. That's the most Papastries thing I've ever heard That really upset me, then he argued with my girlfriend after she tried to explain to him, you can't force a "Customer" to buy a car! If Mr. Del didn't know his 2013 Lexus has a $1,500 steering column repair, he does now. Check for yourself, and see if it's still for sale? To some Unknowledgeable customer. Unbelievable... Jay, October 10th 2021

VEHICLE CONDITION NOT AS ADVERTISED

VEHICLE CONDITION NOT AS ADVERTISED... June 15, 2019 2013 GMC Acadia SLT-1 (currently still for sale on website) was said to be in "immaculate" condition. I spent 5 minutes looking over the vehicle and found 3 issues that were not listed. 1. Hail damage that covered the top of the vehicle that the salesman (Del Rios) advised he didn't know was there. 2. Broken plastic covers on the front driver and passenger seat that cover the electrical for the duel power seats. 3. Worst of all that I found was interior rust underneath the seats and the seat rail tracks that the seats sit and slide on. Indicating that there has been some form of water inside the vehicle, (possibly a hidden flood vehicle). The dealership has had this vehicle for over 5 months and couldn't find these issues that I found in 5 minutes. They are either very incompetent at their job or they knew about the issues and purposely failed to list and/or mention them.

Excellent buying experience!!

This was an absolutely unreal buying experience. The buying experience on my Toyota Tacoma was so great. The sales personnel (Marsha, Bo, and of course Del) were phenomenal. They allowed me to view the vehicles on my own without bothering me, or pressuring me to move along. They literally handed me the keys and let me and my family look around the multiple vehicles for probably 2 hours. Then once I was ready to move into the test drive, I was able to take my time and drive as much as needed. I even checked tire pressures on the vehicle to make sure they were ready to leave once I was sure I wanted the truck. By the time I sat down with Ms. Marsha I had already secured financing through USAA, and so my experience of working out financing, and warranties literally took no more than 20 mins. It was absolutely unreal. I am still shocked at how great the experience was. Every person that is in the market for a used vehicle should check them out. The reasons why: they were the lowest priced seller of ANY Toyota Tacoma's anywhere in the southeastern United States, they are honest people, they have excellent work ethics to hold to their word concerning money/ prices. Not once was there any bargaining to push the price up. Bo even showed me some great accessories to purchase later on down the line for my new truck. Overall, I wish i could buy a vehicle from these guys/gals every day. It was that much fun. I even drove 4 hours to get there.

2012 F-150 Best Value and Price

I returned to Del and Marsha at Memphis Car Smart for the second buying experience this time on a 2012 Ford F-150 Lariat. I had a trade in that I had purchased from them a couple years earlier. They were able to get me a very fair price for my trade and an excellent deal on the fully loaded F150. The negotiations were seamless, fair, honest and upfront with very little haggling like many dealers do. The paperwork process took less than 20 minutes, whereas at some dealers I have spent hours waiting. Memphis Car Smart offers clean vehicles at competitive prices. I’m a repeat customer and would shop with them again in the future.

Looking for the right used vehicle

The staff is friendly/knowledgeable and tried their best to match me up with the car I was looking for. I was being very picky about wanting a certain set of factory options and ended up not purchasing anything, but I absolutely would have had no problems buying from there. They tried to set me up with good aftermarket add-ons, for a reasonable price. They do have a lot of good cars and I’ll likely be back.

Horrible place

Bought a vehicle, and it was all messed up. Appeared as if they had been clearing check engine lights and coolant was leaking out if the bottom of the colarpet through the heater core..
