We had a wonderful car buying experience.
We had a wonderful car buying experience. I hope to be able to send more of my friends and family here. There was no pressure, but we knew we wanted to walk out the door with a vehicle, and that is exactly what we did. The process was quick, and we felt like family after. Highly recommended!

I am writing to formally express my disappointment
I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent experience at your CarMax location on Cyfair with salesman Patrick Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham initially reassured me that I could trust him despite my past negative experiences with other dealerships. I was preapproved for a 2020 Kia Sorento (navy blue) with a $2,000 down payment, and after test driving, I was very excited about the purchase. However, when it came time to finalize my income details, my down payment unexpectedly increased from $2,000 to $2,800--even though I had already chosen my bank and received approval. Since I could not afford the increased amount, I agreed to consider a different option--a 2019 Kia Sorento(burgundy). Mr. Cunningham assured me that this vehicle would be ready for pickup on Friday, September 12. On that day, he asked me for my Social Security number again, which I found unusual, but I complied under the assumption it was a verification step. To my shock, my credit was run two more times that morning. This not only further lowered my credit score but also caused my down payment to increase to $4,100--more than double the original agreement. The experience left me frustrated, upset, and in tears. Instead of offering genuine solutions, I was told my only options were to provide a co-signer or to pay the additional $2,000, which I did not have. For comparison, when I later visited your Southwest Freeway location, salesman Jordan provided outstanding customer service. He worked with me to find alternatives and successfully presented my original credit application to the bank. As a result, I was approved for the 2020 Kia Sorento with the original $2,000 down payment--exactly what should have happened from the start. Instead of picking up my car now I have to wait for the car to get shipped again to a different location further away. This situation caused unnecessary stress, financial strain, and wasted time. While I am happy to have ultimately received the car I wanted, the process at the Cyfair location was unacceptable and avoidable. I hope CarMax takes this feedback seriously and ensures that customers are not subjected to repeated hard inquiries, miscommunication, and misleading information during the car-buying process. I am giving two stars since I am getting the car I wanted originally.

Carmax is the best, beware of other dealerships!!!
After trying other "reputable dealerships" that added thousands of dollars to the cost of a used car at the end of the sale "to get it ready to sell" and then almost purchasing a non disclosed flood vehicle, we came back to CarMax! We have now purchased 5 vehicles from them and have been thrilled with the experience and the durability and safety of a CarMax car!

Bought used f 250 truck
Great service, took care of me totally, had the truck transferred from another Car Max, they followed it through the purchase and the drive out from the facility.

Beware
Please beware they have no problem breaking consumer protection laws. I recently found a specific car online that i have always wanted since I was a girl and paid a pretty good amount of money to transfer it to my local car max (290/1960). When the car finally arrived a day before our family vacation I asked to do a quick test drive. I told them I wanted to see the car real quick and after my (weekend) vacation with the kids I would be back to do the final paper work /purchase of the vehicle. I was already pre approved for the car financing so there was no concerns there. The sales lady (Elle) that was communicating with me via text told me that “if I was to test drive the car I would have to purchase it that night because they would not hold it for me” Mind you I just spent money to have this car sent here for me to test drive. (This was a Thursday) No biggie I really wanted this car and I wasn’t going to let a poor sales person ruin this experience, so I just requested a new sales person when I arrived at the actual dealership. I found out the sales lady already ran a hard credit app on me without my knowledge which I thought was odd. When I test drove the car and the check air bag system light was on. I explained to the new sales rep that this light needed to be investigated and problem fixed before I purchased the car. As far as I know there was no other issues. He said no problem they would call me when it was done to finalize the sale. A week goes by as I assume the car is being worked on and I am called up there on the following Friday to purchase the car. I arrived, I trade my current vehicle in and put over $4k down on this car and was told they could not offer me any gap insurance on the vehicle. This again was odd, I had never not been offered gap when buying a car. The moment I left the car lot the air bag light came back on. (Apparently it took them a week to reset the light) I called the sales guy and told him he said bring it back in but the service dept. wouldn’t be back til Monday. So I told him i would just bring it in Monday morning. Well the very next day the check engine light then comes on in addition, the shifter handle was getting extremely hot and burning my finger along with a few other mechanical issues I noted. I took the car in to an autozone and had them put it on the computer to let me know what code was causeing the check engine light to come on. I was told it was something with the fuel system and emissions and that this car shouldn’t have passed stated inspection with this problem. So I was sold a car that obviously wasnt even properly state inspected and street legal. I took it back to the dealer monday and told them all the issues I found in just two days of being in possession of the car. I have since been in one of their loaner vehicles for three weeks. After all this time and all the problems with this car I have since told them I dont want the car and I want to walk away from this place like they promised I could. Well I am told that the 7 days expired while the car was in their service department and my car has since been shipped out and up for resale at another location. I am currently denied my money back and my trade in and being told I have the choice to walk away empty handed with nothing or to purchase another car from this shady place. I specifically told them when I purchased the car I was not shopping for a car, I found a particular car that I always wanted and if it didn’t work out then I wanted my car back. I was reassured several times that no worries I had 7 days with the car to decide if it was for me and no questions asked I could return it and walk away clean. Again I didn’t want to shop for a different car I was perfectly content with my current car (the trade in) if this car wasn’t for me. Now I feel robbed, they have taken my car my money and sold me a bad car. I was told I cold. Keep the car they still haven’t fixed or buy another car from them or walk away w nothi

Jeff Wiemann/CARMAX CY FAIR
My daughter bought a 2015 Kia Soul today from Jeff Wiemann at Carmax Cy Fair. 15 minutes into our visit she realized Jeff had been her salesman back in 2013 when she purchased her 'first' car! He's a great salesman- I have always given 5 star reviews to carmax- but Jeff deserves a huge 5 star review too!
