Ford is recalling more than 419,900 examples of its Expedition and related Lincoln Navigator SUVs over an issue with the seat belts (Lincoln is Ford’s luxury brand). The recall expands on previous recalls involving the vehicles, one from March 2025 and another from February 2024.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2018-22 Expeditions and Navigators. The seat belt pretensioner in the driver and/or passenger seat may lock the seat belt, preventing it from retracting or extending. If the seat belt fails to properly retract or extend, it may fail to restrain an occupant, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt retractors, as necessary, for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the issue are expected to be mailed June 8; additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, which Ford expects will be in August. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 26S34), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
