2025 Toyota Sequoia Gains 1794 Edition, New Luxury and Tech Options

After refreshing the Sequoia for the 2023 model year, Toyota continues to fill out the full-size SUV’s lineup. New for the 2025 model year is a 1794 Edition trim level, an homage to the Texas factory where the Sequoia is built; the facility occupies the former site of a ranch that was established in 1794.

Like Ford’s King Ranch trim level, the 1794 Edition is a rugged take on luxury, the log mansion in densely wooded hills to the Sequoia Capstone’s modern urban penthouse. It’s upholstered in brown leather and sports walnut wood trim. Heated, ventilated and massaging front seats are standard on the 1794 Edition, as are second-row captain’s chairs, a panoramic moonroof and a towing package.
The massaging seats are new for 2025 and also standard on the Platinum and Capstone trim levels. Also new is an available wireless camera; attached to the rear of a trailer, it streams a feed to either the Sequoia’s digital rearview mirror or the infotainment screen, giving the driver an unobstructed view aft.

Standard Hybrid Power
Every 2025 Sequoia is powered by a hybrid twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine called the i-Force Max; it puts out 437 horsepower and 583 pounds-feet of torque. For comparison, that betters the Ford Expedition Limited’s twin-turbo non-hybrid V-6 by 37 hp and 103 pounds-feet and maintains an edge of 73 pounds-feet over the Expedition’s Stealth Performance Edition (though it gives up 7 hp). GM’s V-8s aren’t even close, with the Yukon’s available 6.2-liter maxing out at 420 hp and 460 pounds-feet.
A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard in the Sequoia. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the SR5 and Limited, with four-wheel drive available for $3,000; 4WD is standard on the Platinum, TRD Pro, 1794 Edition and Capstone trim levels.
Official EPA fuel economy figures for the 2025 model are not yet available but are unlikely to change from 2024’s numbers. The Sequoia also leads the segment in fuel economy, with model-year 2024 rear-drive variants returning an EPA-rated 21/24/22 mpg city/highway/combined and 4WD versions rated at 19/22/20 mpg. The 4WD Expedition gets 16/22/18, while the Yukon returns just 14/18/16 mpg.

Also standard on the 2025 Sequoia are blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, a 360-degree parking camera, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking.
The entry-level Sequoia SR5 rides on 18-inch wheels and features LED exterior lighting, keyless entry and starting, cloth seats, power-adjustable and heated front seats, and tri-zone automatic climate control. For off-roading in luxury, the TRD Pro rides on Fox shock absorbers and black 18-inch wheels with Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires. An LED light bar and LED marker lights help you find your way, while a quarter-inch aluminum skid plate protects the oil pan. Inside, the TRD Pro features accent stitching, second-row captain’s chairs, aluminum pedals, a 14-speaker JBL sound system and wireless smartphone charging.
The Sequoia Platinum forgoes the TRD’s off-road gear but doubles down on luxury equipment, riding on black 20-inch wheels and fitted with a panoramic moonroof and upgraded LED headlights and taillights with sequential turn signals. It’s upholstered in genuine leather and features heated and ventilated front seats with massage, second-row captain’s chairs and ambient lighting.
Atop the lineup, the Capstone contrasts the 1794 Edition’s rugged luxury with dark-chrome 22-inch wheels, power running boards, a 10-inch head-up display, and exclusive black-and-white semi-aniline leather with contrast stitching.
