The package includes the regular SE’s 1.6-liter four-cylinder and six-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission, but adds an aerodynamic kit with a rear spoiler, side air deflectors, underbody shields and lower grille blockers. Low-rolling-resistance tires and cruise control complete the package.
Regular SE models are EPA rated at 29/39 mpg city/highway with the automatic, and 27/38 with the manual. Competitors like the 2013 Honda Fit (28/35 mpg) and 2013 Hyundai Accent (28/37 mpg) fall short of the Fiesta’s fuel economy. Chevrolet’s 2013 Sonic, however, comes close with an EPA rating of 29/40 with a six-speed manual transmission.
The updated-for-2014 Ford Fiesta goes on sale soon. Ford communications spokesman Dan Mazei told Cars.com that the SFE Package is $95 more than the regular SE, for a total of $17,435, including a $795 destination fee.
