The problem: Affected vehicles may exhibit excessive engine oil consumption (less than 2,000 miles per quart). This may be due to excessive piston ring wear.
Vehicles affected by this service bulletin:
- 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
- 2011 GMC Terrain
Equipped with the 2.4-liter gas engine
Corrective action: Dealers will diagnose the condition, and if confirmed, replace the pistons.
Warranty info: This service bulletin is being performed free of charge under a special coverage adjustment of seven years and six months, or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the date of sale.
