To earn Cars.com’s Best Car of the Year award, a vehicle must stand out in terms of quality, innovation and value. The 2024 Chevrolet Trax checks all those boxes — and then some.

(upbeat music) If you told us last year that a completely redesigned 2024 Chevrolet Trax would be roomier than the old one, have stunning new screens, and a lower starting price, we would've laughed at the absurdity.
Cars are only getting more expensive, right? But that is, in fact, what happened, and it's earned our top honor, Cars.com's Best Car of 2024. What made our jaws drop was that the Trax's optional in-car technology and screens rival the quality and exceed the user friendliness of many luxury brands' multimedia systems. The Trax's screen size grew, and so did its interior. In fact, the Trax has one of the roomiest interiors you can get for the money, Upfront, there's plenty of in-cabin storage for phones, keys, wallets, and more. And despite ho-hum specifications, its turbocharged three-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission move the front-wheel-drive-only Trax adequately for the class. The cherry on top might be that the Trax wraps its practical goodness with exterior styling that's closer to Chevrolet's exuberant designed Blazer than the bland look of the previous Trax. Add it all up, and the Trax's innovative approach creates a new bar for what consumers should expect from an affordable car, which is why the Chevrolet Trax is Cars.com's Best Car of 2024.
