The 2025 Kona is Hyundai's entrant in the subcompact SUV class. Now, that's a group of vehicles that's often associated with budget transportation, but there are a lot of unexpected premium features you can get in certain trims of this vehicle.
Here are five of them that stand out on the Kona Limited. (upbeat music) A power liftgate might seem like an unexpected feature for a subcompact SUV to have, and while the Kona Limited has that, it also has a hands-free component to that power liftgate. To use the hands-free feature, all you have to do is approach the back of the Kona with the key fob when the vehicle is locked and wait roughly three seconds. The liftgate then opens automatically, making this a helpful feature if your hands are full. The Kona Limited has a digital dashboard that consists of two screens. There's a 12.3-inch instrument cluster screen and a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system that includes wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Both of the screens look really nice with high-quality graphics and a clear display. The one main downside of this setup, though, is that the driver display can be a bit blocked by the steering wheel. Hyundai's Blind Spot View Monitor System is a favorite feature of cars.com editors, and it's included on the Kona Limited. It's more than just your standard blind spot monitoring system, which may show a warning indicator in your side mirror or on the dashboard, because Blind Spot View Monitor uses the Kona's cameras to give you a view of what's happening around your vehicle when you use the left or the right turn signal and puts an image of what's near the side of the vehicle in that digital instrument panel. It's really helpful when you're driving in the city because it helps you see cyclists or pedestrians that may be around your vehicle. Another camera-based feature in the Kona Limited is Surround View Monitor, which gives you a 360-degree view of what's around the Kona. The camera views, and that includes the regular backup camera views, are crisp and clear, and they appear right in the infotainment screen, and it gives you a good view of what's around the Kona when you're maneuvering slowly. Remote Smart Parking Assist is a feature I would've liked to have recently, when a car parked so close to me that I wasn't able to open my driver's door and had to climb into the driver's seat from another door. With this feature, it would've been a much easier and more graceful process because when the car is remote started, all you have to do is press and hold a button on the key fob and it'll back right out for you. That's pretty cool, huh? The 2025 Kona starts at $26,000 for a front-wheel drive SE-trim level, but to get a limited model with all the features that we've been talking about, the price jumps to $33,550. That's a big increase from the Kona's base price, but it's still a lot less than the average price for a new car these days, and you get a lot of useful convenience and safety features.
