(engine starting) It didn't take long for Lincoln to create a production version of the Continental concept it showed last year. And here it is, an all new flagship sedan for the brand with a name we haven't seen since 2002.
A very muscular horizontally oriented sedan here in the new Continental, a real full-size car. It's long, it's big. It's got muscular shoulder lines. Check out some of the cool features along the side. The door handles actually align on the belt line itself. And there's a lot of chrome that kind of curls up interestingly, even in the side mirrors. Visual pizazz continues inside where the Continental has lots of eye candy, things like real wood trim, obviously real leather along the upper portions of the dashboard, and the doors 30 way adjustable seats. Lincoln calls these perfect positioning seats. They even have things like individually adjustable, thigh supports if your right leg and your left leg want different sort of support. And really excellent cabin materials. Everything seems very consistent here in the car at the auto show. Bear in mind that some of that can change between this and the production car. Now Lincoln says the new Continental will compete roughly with cars like the BMW five series, the Audi A6, really mid-sized cars, but being a full-sized car in terms of interior dimensions. And that's nowhere more obvious than in the rear seat where I have tons and tons of leg room. I'm six feet tall. That's where I would sit. Lots of room back here. Lots of amenities too, things like heated and cooled and power adjustable massaging seats available in the back of the Continental. So certainly all the things you would expect with a full-size flagship luxury car. Continental should have effortless acceleration, thanks to a V6 that's turbocharged and good for 400 horsepower. We're excited to get behind the wheel, so stay tuned for our driving impressions closer to the cars on sale date this fall.
