(engine starting) (engine idling) Up until now, if you're interested in the Lamborghini Huracan you could have it in one of three different ways as a coupe with rear or all wheel drive, or as an all wheel drive convertible.
Now a few days before the Los Angeles Auto Show, Lamborghini is introducing a fourth variant to the mix, a rear wheel drive convertible called the Huracan Rear Wheel Drive Spyder. Now, even though the drive train layout has changed, from all wheel drive to rear wheel drive on the Spyder. One thing that has not changed is the engine is still a naturally aspirated 5.2 liter V10 that makes 580 horsepower and 398 pounds seat of torque. That's enough to move the Huracan Rear Wheel Drive Spyder from zero to 62 miles an hour in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 198 miles an hour. Now this model also comes with what's called the forged carbon interior package. Lamborghini has a proprietary process with which they take small pieces of carbon fiber and actually forge them together. And it leaves it with this marble appearance here rather than the weave that you'd find with most other manufacturers. Now in this example, you can see it on the door handles, on the vents and even on the paddle shifters, but Lamborghini also used this material on body panels on a few of its other models as well. There are a few changes that will allow you to distinguish rear wheel drive from all wheel drive convertibles, starting up front. Now there are new front air ducts, which help to route more air over the front axle, increasing down force on the front wheels. This is necessary on a car like this that has 40 to 60 front to rear weight distribution. In the rear there's are also new rear air ducts and this bright yellow color that we're looking at is called the yellow Tenerife. Now the Huracan Rear Wheel Drive Spyder will go on sale in January 2017. Lamborghini has not yet announced exact pricing, but they have said it will fall somewhere between the coupe rear wheel drive and coupe all wheel drive versions. That means somewhere between 200 and $235,000. Now one option that Lamborghini has not included on the newer Huracan. It can't drive on water. So it looks like we're gonna have to wait to get this thing on sturdier ground or preferably a racetrack to tell you how it drives.
