(car starting) The 2017 infinity Q 60 is an impressive car that offers a great driving experience at a price that's pretty attractive. Now we tested the 3.0 T premium all wheel drive coupe.
And our friends out in California got to test the high-performance red sport version. Now, what that means is we didn't have the adaptive suspension and we had one less driving mode than Brian Long out in California. But even without the red sport features, the Q 60 is still fun to drive. There's really good response from the engine, both pulling away from the stop and passing on the highway, and the brake field is actually very good. What's interesting is this car also has Infiniti's direct adaptive steering. What that means is there's not a mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the wheels, except for, you know, an emergency backup system. But honestly, if you didn't tell me that there wasn't a mechanical linkage, I wouldn't know. It's that good of a system. Now I mentioned the driving modes. Our car has five different modes, including a personalization mode where you can change things like the throttle response and the steering response. The red sport version offers a, an additional mode that we didn't have a sport plus, which is even more powerful and performance oriented. Either way, the key is the differences are felt. In eco mode, the car kind of cruises along. It's very sedate, very relaxed. Sport is the go fast, have fun mode. It's very good. And then the standard mode kind of hits that happy medium, where you can go fast if you need to, but it also allows for sort of easy cruising. It's a good system. Now the biggest drawback of the Q 60 really is the headroom. Granted I'm a little over six feet tall. I like to sit up right, but I really noticed that in the Q 60 more than in other cars. Also, the multimedia system is a little complicated with the two screens, took me a long time to learn that. And there's no apple Car Play or Android auto on the horizon for this car. Where the Q 60 really shines though is on price. Our test model with all wheel drive and a V6 engine, and a number of options came in right around $57,000. And while that's not cheap, that's still several thousand dollars less than competitors like the Cadillac ETS V and the BMW M 4. So really if what you're looking for is the luxury coupe that's fun to drive and you don't mind saving a few thousand dollars. The Q 60 really belongs on your consideration list.
