Routines is one of the latest features to debut on the third-generation MBUX system. Designed to provide a bespoke driving experience, Routines allows you to automatically personalize your interior temperature, lighting, drive speed, navigation, and other features based on certain conditions you (or your car) set ahead of time.

You’ll have the choice between three different ways to create routines: Templates, Self-Generated Routines, and AI-Generated Routines.

• Templates: Through the central display screen, you can choose from an assortment of pre-made Routines that cater to different conditions and needs. For example, the “Cold Days” template turns on the heated seats and adjusts the interior ambient lighting to a warm orange hue when the outside temperature drops to the template’s pre-set level. Or if you are out on the town with your significant other, set the tone of the evening with romantic music and a 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE cabin bathed in rose-colored lighting when you choose the “Date Night” template.
• Self-Created Routines: This option gives you even more control over the circumstances of your drives. You can set desired actions to occur linked to driving, weather, time, or vehicle conditions. For example, you can activate your vehicle’s massage settings every weekday at 5 PM for a more relaxing commute.
• AI-Generated Routines: In the future, the goal is to fully automate routine tasks, if desired, with artificial intelligence (AI). The vehicle’s ability to learn and evolve with the customer will represent a new level of intelligence. For the third-generation MBUX, drivers will be able to use three different AI-generated routines for the driver and the seating system: ventilation, heating, and massage.

Active Ambient Lighting With Sound Visualization

Blending Visuals & Sound

The third-generation MBUX Ambient Lighting with Sound Visualization adds an exciting new layer of audio and visual interaction: occupants can now “see” music tracks and the sounds of films or apps. Active Ambient Lighting creates visualizations through the cabin’s upper light strip, for example by turning rapidly moving beats into fast and synchronized lighting changes, or by interpreting slower, calming soundtracks into soothing lighting effects that merge and flow.

How do you use Active Ambient Lighting with Sound Visualization?

1. On the MBUX Multimedia system, select the “Comfort” option.
2. Choose “Ambient Light”
3. Choose “Effects”
4. Turn “Sound Visualization” to the right.
