Amazing car! I have donw some work on it. I would say the only main issue with these cars are blowing head and intake gaskets. I have worked on that. Got that done. Car runs amazing and handles great. I drive mine through the mountains of Pennsylvania and I barely have to brake around corners. It glides right around them. I will keep this car until it dies. Front driver side crash safety was rated 5/5 stars by U.S. Government. It was rated as the 13th safest car in the U.S. during the 90's. Look it up! Thanks for making such a great car, Chevrolet! You make some of the best!

We purchased out current 99 Lumina LTZ. was surprised by the unfailing quick response onto the expressways. Never had an issue catching up and maintaining decent speeds. Passing gear was quick and responsive. When gas was decent MPG city was a steady 17-22 city. There are however drawbacks. Whomever designed the engine must been on acid or recently finished a major Blunt. The cooling system required big dollar maintenance. I've had no issues with any other mechanical parts. The 4 wheel disc, interior design and the overall appearance pretty decent. Comfort on and off the hiway was better than our daughters 2000 chevy impala LS. The Speedo just turned 150,000. And with regular maintenance keeps running strong.

I bought this car and am the 2nd owner. Replaced the notorius upper & lower intake manifold gaskets. Now running great, getting about 20 mpg/city and 26 Hwy. Big, dependable and comfortable. Parts are laughably cheap online. I shooting for 300,000. I am an ASE-Certified technician and will never sell this car !

I got mine free from a family member 11 years ago and I love the performance and dependability! It still runs great but it is trying hard to fall apart from the interior to the metal you can dent with your thumb with very little effort. It is the leakiest vehicle I've ever had! From the windshield to the trunk! It was garage kept by my Grandma and barely driven no more than 50 miles from home. It has an awesome smooth ride and you'd rather set it on fire than have to change the spark plugs twice but it has given me 181,735 miles and I'll drive it til it won't go any further. If you baby your car, you will be happy with it.

It was was a good 3.1L V-6 had it for about 3 years than up traded for a new 2001 Malibu LS same engine but a little more HP(was a litter car than the Lumania). Had much fun driving it in SoCal. Was my 3rd to last car(all Chevy’s), Stopped driving in 2007. Last car was a 2005 Malibu Base model with standard SoCal equipment package.
