I have own 2 of these since mid 90s and still have the second. First one was totaled in accident, and I walked away without any injuries or scratch. It's a very safe and well built. Second still owned to this very day, it's a bit rare very few are produced with 6 speed manuals (less than a thousand with 20K production). Also lightly modified engine chipped, stage 3 suspension with gas shock, exhaust, all are Dinan's performance parts. And Hartge wheels at four corners with Perilli Z-Zero. It's a blast to drive this timeless machine, this was fun weekend vehicles and sometime daily commuter.

I had a '93 6 speed (very rare it turns out) but I made sure it came with extended after market warranty. The warranty company must have spent $20k keeping it on the road. I managed to add another 80k miles on it and sold it for a good price.

This car is one of the best kept secrets in the collector car world. The level of sophistication, mechanical engineering, design and timeless beauty belies the fact that the car was designed in 1984-1986. Those who think this car has to be expensive to maintain, clearly have never tried to maintain one on their own. There is nothing you can't maintain yourself - I know I have 5 of them and they all drive. Parts are available all over the internet at a fraction of the price the dealer wants. I do not spend more on these cars than I have done on any other high end production car except when I change spark plugs - I have to buy a few extra! For those who want more power, there are engine chips and super chargers available as well as a myriad of suspension and brake upgrades. The trick is to NOT take it to the dealer, but to join the forums and other entities that deal with 850's and then maintain the car yourself. Maybe find a good local shop that does not see you as a meal ticket, but has an interest in helping you keep you car running. All the help you need is available from a very strong group effort all across the world. Go ahead - get one while the price is still ridiculously low - and enjoy the performance of the best of German engineering as well as the sleek design of this beauty. I am snapping up as many as I can get my hands on.

850Csi is the only thing you need to remember... Quick. fuel efficient... and safe in crashe tests... This car eats porche, and fararri... take this car and put it in your garage at home.

I am never happier than when I sit be hind the wheel of my 850 and pilot it through the curves in the canyon. I enjoy the sound that abruptly erupts when I turn the key in the sleeping beauty and all 12 little worker bees (pistons) start their chores. I get a thrill every time I open the hood and see the 12 runners that disappear into the bowels of the beast and according to the uhhhs and ahhhs I hear from people standing around watching - so do they. This car is stupid cheap at the moment and buying one should be on every enthusiasts list. It is EASY to maintain on your own - there is a great forum online to help you - just don't take it to the dealer!!
