Bought the car with 97k miles and it has a little over
Bought the car with 97k miles and it has a little over 102k miles now. My father purchased the car from a mechanic who maintained it very well. The car has been awesome so far except a handful of times, at a stop light, the transmission malfunctioned and puts itself into park. This also happened one time when I was reversing and scared the xxxx out of me. When this happens it displays the traction control and ABS light, not sure if anyone else has had this same issue? It fixes itself every time after turning the car off and back on. Also had an instance where cylinder 7 and 8 were misfiring, but took it to the shop they plugged it in and reset it and the motor has been perfectly fine since. Also, the car drinks oil and has very slight leak. I know it sounds problematic, but the car has made driving fun. Nobody buys a V8 bmw for its reliability / ease of ownership … but if you take care of it, it will probably take care of you just fine. It is truly a thrill to drive. I have the msport package with all the bells and whistles and that provides me with everything I want. The comfort seats are awesome and after a 3 hour road trip I feel like I could keep driving. I drive with a heavy foot and fill it with 93 and I get 15 mpg city driving and up to 25 on the highway. This car is a super comfortable commuter if you don’t mind the gas mileage. Turning off traction control + sport mode will allow you to have way too much fun. The car feels like it is just cruising (with summer tires of course) until you hit about 140 mph which is when I when I back off. I love cruising the highway in this thing as it always feels like it has plenty more power to unleash. I love this car and would recommend it to anyone that knows how to turn a wrench or has a good connection with a mechanic.

Tony at this dealership has answered all my questions.
Tony at this dealership has answered all my questions. I really had an interest in the car, but really want the metallic blue color and 19” wheels that will be replaced. They have a good price on the car, that's very tempting.
best looking 5 series by far
2008 550i M sport owner, and Preventive maintenance is key with all BMWs and this is no exception. Mine is just about to turn 300,000 miles original engine and transmission. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

Very friendly and efficient place.
Very friendly and efficient place. They made a stressful process so easy. I am happy that I decided to go with Chicago Motor Credit.
Loved this car
I loved this car and did not want to get rid of it but like most Bmw’s after a certain point they get to be a money pit. I did all I could to take care if the car with the hopes I could keep it and pass it down but I became frustrated that after 13 years the car became to unreliable. It was fun to drive and had a great engine. The body and interior held up very well.

This is an outstanding used car dealership.
This is an outstanding used car dealership. I just cannot say enough good things about them! I have owned many cars and have dealt with many dealerships, but the owner of Excellent Motor Group is by far the very best person I have ever purchased from. He is the most knowledgeable, has the most integrity and honesty, works unbelievably hard, and is the most kind used auto dealer I have ever seen. This is what he did for me: I went down to buy a Ram Promaster cargo van. He worked very hard for me, making calls for about 3 hours to find a lender for me, but my credit wasn't good enough to qualify for the loan. So he showed me a Ford Transit cargo van he had on the lot which was a little older. I still couldn't qualify, so he dropped the price so I could qualify for the loan. Then I tried to pay the down payment with my debit card but couldn't pay the whole amount because of the limit on my card. I called my bank on the mainland to increase the limit, but it still didn't work. Then because of the time difference, my bank closed for the day and I couldn't call back. Then he let me use his computer to login to my insurance carrier's website, but I had trouble getting the lienholder's name and address to show on the insurance binder, so he sat down with me and helped me very patiently to solve the issue and get the insurance binder and my insurance cards and documents printed out. Then he drove me all the way across town to the lender's office, introduced me to the lender and explained the process, then waited for me while I set up my account and got my documents. Then even after the exhausting day, and even with my down payment only partially paid, he graciously let me to pay the remainder the next day, and he even drove me all the way back across town to my apartment. The next day he picked me up at my workplace and drove me to his lot, where I was able to finally pay the remainder of my down payment. He had already finished all of the documents and paperwork, and had also gone down to the dmv to do the temp registration. He also had done the safety and emission inspection, had the oil changed, and filled up the gas tank. Then after he had done all of this for me, he offered to hold the van at his lot until I could find a monthly parking place for it near my apartment. Then the next day after I found a monthly parking spot, I noticed that my name was slightly misspelled on a few of the documents. So I went down to his lot and he got all of the documents corrected very quickly, even while he was in the process of working with another customer. He had the keys ready plus a spare key, and the van was ready for me to drive home. And he did all of this over three days in the rain while major street work was being done right next to his lot. Wow! I recommend this dealer very very highly. I have never seen anyone so knowledgeable, so hard working, so honest and patient as him. The week I was at his lot, he sold 4 cars to customers who had purchased from him over 15 years ago, and now I understand why. When you find a dealer this good, you go back decade after decade. Outstanding.
Sexy Beast
This car is simply a work of art. I owned the 545i, and really missed it. Found a 2008 550i M Sport at am amazing deal, I jumped on it. Chris Bangle should be delighted over his design. The 5 series that followed is so bland and conservative. I love this car. The power, handles and feels like a much smaller sports car, style, comfort, features, you name it. I'm a big fan! Can't believe, someone below, compared this to a new Honda. I'm a former Accord owner, no comparison here, two totally different vehicles. The V-8 is the best feature. It literally pushes you back in your seat, it's like a rocket when passing someone. The sound is addictive, I drive in manual mode mostly, for pure enjoyment. Yes, service will be needed just like any other car. These are over engineered, you have to consider this, when considering the purchase. Preventative service is key here, stay on top of it, she'll last a long time. I taught myself how to service the N62 V-8, the 5 series of this era. Some repairs are tedious but not very difficult. Valve cover gaskets, suspension, oil leaks, will happen to any vehicle. I suggest, learn to turn a wrench. You get the satisfaction of repairing your own car, and saving a lot of money. I love working on this car. This is a German beast of a car, not a Honda, consider this when shopping.
